Let's Talk Sibset

I have 3 kids: [name_m]Benton[/name_m] [name_m]Grover[/name_m] (13), [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (10), and [name_u]Raven[/name_u] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] (7). All of their middle names are honorific plus [name_m]Benton[/name_m] is as well. DH had a vasectomy reversal in [name_u]January[/name_u] and we’re TTC #4. We’d love to have 3 more kids and ideally, if we could snap our fingers and magically get exactly what we want, we’d have 2 boys and then a girl. I feel so lucky that this time DH has given me free reign to name the next babies whatever I want. I did say that he has to tell me if he absolutely hates a name, but otherwise, it’s up to me! I wish he had done that with our two girls because they would have totally different names, but I digress.

[name_f]My[/name_f] top names are…

[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylva[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

I’m pretty certain these are the ones and whichever one isn’t used will be reserved for the next baby.

Below are sibsets I’ve put together. Most of the middle names are honorific. Are there any names that feel mismatched either with [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] or my older kids’ names? I’m not as worried about matching my older kids, but I would like them to somewhat go together. Any other input or critiques?

Summary

[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Luther[/name_m] [name_u]Clyde[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylva[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]

[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_f]Sylva[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f] [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]

[name_f]Sylva[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilou[/name_f] [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_u]Fern[/name_u] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]

Thanks!

[name_f]Lilou[/name_f] doesn’t give me the same vibes as the rest but that’s just my 2 cents!

I think they all could work - none of them feel outlandish imo - however, [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] does feel a bit less formal, a bit more cutesy than your other choices. Should that mean you eliminate it? I don’t think so, but if I met your set, [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] would surprise me (not necessarily in a bad way, just, not what I would expect!)

@cms1512 @Greyblue

I wouldn’t disagree with you two about [name_f]Lilou[/name_f]. I’m honestly just not sure what else to use. I’ve gone through AAAALLLLL the names. [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] honors my mom in-law through the initials and [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] honors my great granny, [name_f]Maebelle[/name_f]. I could use [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] instead of [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] which is my husband’s preference, but it kinda feels too normal next to all the other names. Plus I sometimes feel like I sound like a murloc from World of Warcraft when I say it. I definitely prefer [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] to [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] and when I polled the kids they all chose [name_f]Lilou[/name_f] over [name_u]Laurel[/name_u].
I could also go with [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] [name_f]Elanor[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] instead which honors my dad and me through the initials, but I’ve already honored him with [name_u]Charles[/name_u] and me twice with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (granted [name_f]Kate[/name_f] honors a whole bunch of other ladies as well).
[name_f]Ann[/name_f] technically honors my mom in-law. It is her middle name, but it was also her mom’s middle name and she went by it. I’ve kinda expressly said a few times that [name_u]Raven[/name_u] was named after [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] (mom in-law’s mom) without thinking to add in mom in-law and she’s definitely heard it. Makes me feel bad because she’s not one of those monster in-laws and my husband very much loves his mother. It wasn’t intentional, but more the truth. I adored my husband’s grandma!
And while I do love [name_u]Fern[/name_u], the middle names aren’t really honoring anyone. They’re names of old ladies I grew up knowing. I didn’t have a major connection to [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], but she was my great granny’s best friend and I heard plenty of stories. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] was my babysitter before I started school and apparently I adored her, but I don’t really have any recollection of that time. Those two names are more nostalgic than anything.
Any L name suggestions that don’t end with A or N and fit better with the sibset?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using Lilou - if it’s the one you, and the kids, prefer, I’d say go for it anyway :shrug

 this made me smile

Anyhow, on reflection, and re-evaluating the choices, I think Lilou fits with your ‘second wave’ of sibs well enough - Sylva and Lilou but have a sparky, spunky vibe, Jasper shares that too, so I think you could make it work

A few suggestions, just in case:

Lilias
Lenore
Lotus
Lusine

@Greyblue lol Second wave of sibs, I like that. I’ve been referring to them as our second litter. I mean my name is [name_f]Cat[/name_f].
I’ll have to ponder [name_u]Lotus[/name_u]. I do like that one, but I’ve not given it much thought. Thanks!

I think all of them work; your current sibset is already a bit eclectic (in a great way- I love your kiddos names!!!) so I really think anything goes :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
