Thank you for the feedback so far! I so enjoyed reading each and every one of your replies, and I am pleased to see such positive reactions to [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] (my favorite) and [name_f]Heida[/name_f] (my oddball).
@em.estelle
I rather like the religious connection with [name_f]Esther[/name_f], being that she was a heroic queen and all. However, the heroine that actually made me fall in love with the name was in a [name_m]Charles[/name_m] Dickens novel (Bleak House).
I do think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] could easily be confused with [name_f]Lila[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. But I’ve lived my whole life with a name that often gets confused for similar sounding names, so I’ve come to be less concerned about it. (Though I think I could only do that with a name I really loved because it can be frustrating.) [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sounds so lovely!
@MichelleM
Oh, I’m so pleased someone else agrees with me on the spelling of [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]! I’m not sure why either, but it is just as you said.
As for [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], I love the gymnast association, too! [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] is further down my list for that reason. ([name_f]Nadia[/name_f] Comaneci was always my favorite, even though she was before my time, but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] Podkopayeva is also fantastic!)
@with_the_monster
I’ve not watched Dr. Who – but I know a lot of people are fans, so actually quite I’m pleased to discover it’s a positive association for [name_f]Clara[/name_f].
Yeah, [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] does remind me of Scooby Doo, too. Thankfully, it’s not as popular anymore or it might have bothered me a little bit, despite loving the name.
Aaw, yes! I like the [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] association for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], too. Those were favorite books of mine as a kid.
@EJpuddlejumper
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], yes, I hadn’t thought of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_m]Barton[/name_m] – what a great association for the name!
I agree with you on [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! That’s the perfect way to put it.
Oh, I do love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], too!
@leafsgirl44
Thank you!
I love all the sister combos you came up with! (I have often thought of [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] together, too, so I particularly like that you listed that one.)
Also, I think you’ve hit upon precisely the description for my style. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but it is quite Victorian. (Hmm…perhaps that’s due to my influences which are primarily 19th century novels and British drama series.)
@Hollyrow
Hmm…I don’t think I know any nicknames for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] – maybe Daph? I definitely agree with you on the personality she possesses!
Yes, [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is rather old-fashioned, I suppose. But I think it’s so sweet and vintage, so I do hope to give it new life if I ever use it.
I had noticed that [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] is a little lengthy compared to the rest of my list. It would give me pause as a potential sister name for more than one of them, tbh.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful. I think it might be second only to [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] for me at this point!
@Johannaa
Yes! [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]’s connections to nature and mythology are a huge part of her appeal.
So glad to see a fellow fan of [name_f]Emma[/name_f], despite her popularity! And I understand the distaste for [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] – not for everyone, I suppose. (I myself am not a fan of just [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] and prefer [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f] in full.)
I agree: [name_f]Jane[/name_f] does feel both classic and modern. That’s possibly why I like her so much. She feels wearable in any century on any age.
Thanks again, Berries!
