[name]Hi[/name] fellow berries!
What do you guys think about the name Lexington for a girl? I love the the relation to New [name]York[/name] City, and also i love the nn [name]Lexi[/name]. Howver, i dont like the names [name]Alexa[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Alexis[/name] etc. with that same nickname.
Does it sound somewhat feminine to you? What about the ending “ington”, does that make it sound uber masculine?
What about middle name suggestions?
Let me know!
Lexington is cute, but I associate [name]Lexi[/name] with [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Alexis[/name], etc. Kenzington has the same appeal and sound though.
I think it’s cute and could work for a girl. Though you might have to explain to some people her name isn’t [name]Alexandra[/name], [name]Alexis[/name], etc.
Lexington was my favorite name in high school! My best friend and I swore that whoever had a girl first would name her that and we’d cal her [name]Lexi[/name]. We got [name]Lexi[/name] from an old [name]Lindsay[/name] Lohan movie called Get a Clue or something like that. While I wouldn’t use Lexington anymore, I think it’s really cute!
LOL!!! [name]Lyndsay[/name], I saw that Get a Clue movie! It was a total [name]Paul[/name] Blart: Mall Cop experience.
Some middles for Lexington:
Lexington [name]Blythe[/name]
Lexington [name]Maeve[/name]
Lexington [name]Pearl[/name] (although I think of a pearl from Lexington…)
Lexington [name]Paige[/name]
Good luck!
- ton is one of those endings that’s become fully usable for girls. I’d probably assume a Lexington was a girl!
Lexington and Carrington are names I’d use if I were feeling really brave (because they feel too stylish) and had a different last name.
Lexington is very masculine to me.
Awww! I like Lexington for a girl, especially since you are using the nn [name]Lexi[/name]! Good choice! (I love surname/masculine names that can cross over to girl names!)
I considered Lexington for a girl at one point also, I think it is lovely!
Thanks everyone for the replies! The more i think about it, the more Lexington is growing on me and getting higher and higher on my list. The only thing i am thinking is a possible negative is that my #1 boys name is [name]Hudson[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you think that the New [name]York[/name] association of Lexington ( the street name) and [name]Hudson[/name] (the river) is too apparent? Would that theme lock me down in any other names i would have to pick? I absolutely love New [name]York[/name] City, and it is one of my favorite places to be, but do i want that to be imposed on my children?
Let me know what you think!
I like it. I went to the University of Kentucky which is in Lexington. I always liked great city names for babies, like Lexington, [name]Charleston[/name] and [name]Savannah[/name], all would work on a girl in my opinion.
Good luck!
[name]Love[/name] it!
In [name]England[/name] [name]Lexi[/name] is a very popular choice on it’s own (in top 100) - so why not just stick with [name]Lexi[/name] if that is the name you like?
I’m iffy about Lexington for a girl, purely because I know a Lexington nn [name]Lex[/name] who’s a guy. But I can definitely see [name]Lexi[/name] working. I also like the whole [name]Remington[/name], [name]Kensington[/name], Carrington set, although I would never use them. [name]Remy[/name], Kensie, and [name]Carrie[/name] make cute girly nicknames.
If you like Lexington would you like Kerrington? An old friend of mine named her baby Kerrington recently…I’d never heard that name before but I fell in love with it!
I don’t see any problem with Lexington & [name]Hudson[/name]. I prefer just plain [name]Lexi[/name] though. I also like [name]Alexi[/name]. But If her names [name]Lexi[/name] I don’t think people will even think to call her [name]Alexa[/name]/[name]Alexis[/name]. If you write [name]Lexi[/name] on all her papers and stuff shell be called [name]Lexi[/name]!
If you pair Lexington with a really cute mn It would totally work though!
[name]Jill[/name] Suggsted Lexington [name]Paige[/name] and Lexington [name]Maeve[/name]. Which I [name]LOVE[/name] and could even be a combined 1st.
Lexington is adorable for a girl. It’s a nice, yet unique, way to get to the nn [name]Lexi[/name]! I don’t think the Lexington/[name]Hudson[/name] combo would be too obvious, unless you live in NYC. Cute combo, btw!
I guess I’m in the minority, but I think it sounds trendy…
Wow - I can’t believe I found this thread - I’ve had [name]Remington[/name] ([name]Remy[/name]), Lexington ([name]Lexi[/name]) and [name]Kensington[/name]/Kynsington ([name]Lexi[/name])on my list and have been trying to convince my hubby to at least be okay with one of them! I’m from NYC and now live in So [name]California[/name] so I’m all for Lexington… as for [name]Hudson[/name] and Lexington being too NYC - I wouldn’t worry about… both sound great!!!
Hundreds of people died at Lexington [name]Concord[/name]. That’s a bit of a downer, in my opinion. Not like naming a child Stalingrad, but still a little morbid, maybe?
