Lexington? nn Lex?

What do you think of Lexington as a name? What image do you think of? [name_f]TIA[/name_f]

Lexington doesn’t really sound like a name to me, sorry. It mostly just sounds like the name of a city and I don’t think I’d use it as a name anymore than I’d use [name_m]Baltimore[/name_m] or Chicago. If I were to hear it on a child, I would assume it was a girl’s name, as well, probably because it reminds of me Kerrington, which is a unisex-leaning-female name. I certainly don’t think it’s terrible or anything, but it’s definitely not my cup of tea.

I think of Lexington, [name_m]KY[/name_m]. I find it rather stuffy as a given name.

Thanks! @southern.maple @chelsanne22 I figured with [name_u]Memphis[/name_u] being as popular, 622 in 2016, as it is perhaps more cities would start popping up. I do get the stuffiness but I really don’t mind pretentiousness. I’d rather pretentious than ‘Kre8tiv’ or ‘just another _____’.

I actually know someone who named their son Lexington “[name_u]Lex[/name_u].” He seems to pull it off well and, as far as I know, there haven’t been many negative comments.

I love it. [name_u]Lex[/name_u] is an awesome nn, and Lexington is one of those upper-crusty British-sounding surnames that I have been adoring for a couple years now.
Lexington is awesome.
(Reminds me of [name_m]Montgomery[/name_m] and [name_m]Prescott[/name_m] and [name_m]Kensington[/name_m] which I love on boys)([name_m]Monty[/name_m], [name_m]Scott[/name_m], and [name_m]Kenny[/name_m]/[name_u]Tony[/name_u]/or [name_m]Kent[/name_m])

I like the more pretentious sounding names. It’s a lot of name for a little boy for sure, but people do ‘[name_u]Remington[/name_u]’ and ‘[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]’ so I didn’t think it was that different or far off.

It leans more feminine imo, perhaps because I think of [name_u]Lexi[/name_u]?

[name_u]Lex[/name_u] is a cool nickname for a boy though. Maybe Lexton or Lexon. I guess it could be short for [name_u]Alex[/name_u] or [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]?

@Carysmarie See I hate [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Also [name_u]Lexi[/name_u]. I was thinking like [name_u]Lex[/name_u] [name_m]Luther[/name_m] haha. But I like longer names. :slight_smile:
