We are now debating between the above two names - I think [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is very classic and timeless but also very popular while [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is a favorite of my husband since it sounds russian (were both russian) - I’m not crazy about it but like [name_f]Lia[/name_f] for short since it sounds cute.
I prefer [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], you could also spell it [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], though [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is also very pretty.
I love [name_f]Liana[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Lia[/name_f]. I think it’s beautiful :). (It’s also technically a nature name since it’s a type of woody vine often found in rainforests!)
I think [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is lovely and less expected, and since it has a meaningful connection to you, I would encourage you to use it! [name_f]Lia[/name_f] is a nice nickname. It will give your daughter two great options. I like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], but as a teacher, I have really been hearing [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] a lot, so it seems less fresh to me.
[name_f]Liana[/name_f], definitely! [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f] is a name I’ve been seeing a lot lately so I’m kind of tired of it. [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is sweet and honors your heritage !
Other nicknames for [name_f]Liana[/name_f]: [name_f]Lili[/name_f], [name_f]Lana[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Iana[/name_f] (pronounce yana with the y like in yellow)
I love [name_f]Liana[/name_f]! I had a student while student teaching named [name_f]Liana[/name_f] and she was so sweet and smart. [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] is nice too, but I have met so many kids named [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] gets my vote too, it’s so elegant and classic and sophisticated. [name_f]Liana[/name_f] and [name_f]Lia[/name_f] feel a bit brash and unfriendly to me somehow.
I prefer [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], though there is [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] if you want something less popular and you are adventurous. [name_f]Liana[/name_f] is pretty but sounds like a suffix to a name to me, for example [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. It also seems a bit incomplete.
