So, I fell in love with the name [name_m]Liev[/name_m] and DH seemed to be on board for a week or two…however, he just decided (and I’m 36 weeks pregnant) that he doesn’t love the name anymore because he thinks it is too hard to pronounce… I prefer the ‘emphasis on the EV’ pronunciation, “li-EV” while he tends to say “LI-ev” and we just don’t want to go with a name that is hard to pronounce upon reading and certainly don’t want to differ between the two of us on pronunciation. If all else fails, we will use it as his middle name, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for names that are similar to [name_m]Liev[/name_m] in style or just strike you as even a male sibling of a [name_m]Liev[/name_m]… I’m so stuck since I don’t have any other alternatives I love as much!
Tough to lose your top name so late in the game! But good to toss out a name that might cause your son trouble or cause arguments between you on pronunciation. I met a new mom whose son’s name was [name_m]Aric[/name_m] and at 5wks old she told me they still hadn’t agreed on how to pronounce it… which sounded very confusing and stressful.
lol, my computer keeps auto-correcting this name to say ‘live’. [name_m]LIEV[/name_m]. It’s a good thing you’re not going with it - can you imagine the hassle of auto-correction - with a name like L-i-e-v

Personally I really like [name_m]Liev[/name_m]! Hebrew origin with a cool twist, almost Scandinavian to me, but their version is [name_m]Leif[/name_m] (which I find harder for English speakers than [name_m]Liev[/name_m]).
What about [name_m]Levin[/name_m]? It has a great literary reference in [name_u]Konstantin[/name_u] [name_m]Levin[/name_m] from [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Karenina. [name_m]Lev[/name_m] is also similar in sound, with both Hebrew and Russian roots.
I know how you feel, we were driving to the hospital to have our daughter when my husband decided he didn’t like the name we had choosen. [name_m]Liam[/name_m] is somewhat similar and I think most people pronounce it the same. Goodluck
