[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
I’ve had a few comments now about [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] being VERY dark… This isn’t me at all- especially with my other girls’ name being [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], Evaluna [name_f]Frances[/name_f]… etc.
I’d LOVE a biblical name to use with it, but it’s okay if there aren’t any good ones that work with it. I’m open to all styles as long as it doesn’t have major negative historical associations.
Hi!! I’m a [name_f]Dalia[/name_f] and my middle name is [name_u]Haven[/name_u]. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] doesn’t seem dark to me at all.
To be honest, I really love [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]! I don’t think it’s too dark in the sense that you’re naming her [name_f]Belladonna[/name_f] (which, though it looks pretty, is a literal poisonous plant) or something with a really morbid meaning/bad historical connections.
It conjures a dark imagery, yes, but a really beautiful one! I picture a girl with dark hair, dark eyes and pale skin wandering through a mysterious, foggy forest, fingers stained dark blue from either berries or paints. I picture someone strong-minded, clever and a little mysterious. Sorry, I know this wasn’t one of those “imagery” threads, but I actually get a really lovely vibe from [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. I think the combo fits perfectly, in fact, it’s my favourite one I’ve seen all week!
In terms of [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] fitting with your other names, I actually think it still does. [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] have that flower connection, and though [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lighter (makes me think of sunflower fields, sunny days and flower crowns), I don’t think they’re so stylistically different you wouldn’t be able to use them together.
Besides, they would have different personalities/vibes as they grow up anyway! [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] might even be the one to have a goth phase in middle school. Their names won’t determine who they grow up to be/their aesthetic, they will!
Obviously if you’re still uncomfortable with it, the only choice is to change it! I just wanted to tell you how beautiful I thought [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is. Here are some alternatives:

@tileishamaree - thank you so much for such a comprehensive reply! That imagery you gave is really quite wonderful. You make a solid point about [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] & [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] - they do share that florally connection, don’t they? They sort of balance each other with ‘[name_u]Winter[/name_u]’ and ‘[name_f]Josephine[/name_f].’ Not to mention, [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] wouldn’t have such dark connotations if it wasn’t for the murder in the 1940s.
I love [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I’ve been eyeing up [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] a lot lately, it’s a gorgeous name, and the song ‘Sweet [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]’ makes me wanna dance. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] are also wonderful, I’ll have to take these into consideration!! xx
