[name_m]Hi[/name_m], again! [name_m]Can[/name_m]'t decide between these two lovely combos: LiIia [name_f]Renee[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] LiIia, which would you choose?
*[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] would cause spelling/pron. problems? What nickname comes to mind for [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]?
Renée or [name_f]Renee[/name_f]? (First one looks a tad prettier but might cause confusion with forms, docs)
I prefer [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f]! Sweet, fresh and simple (not in a bad way!).
I think [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] would be fine re spelling, but pronunciation might be a bit of an issue. I always forget how to say it, despite seeing it a lot on this site.
Nicknames that come to mind are [name_u]Ari[/name_u] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. You could maybe use [name_f]Addi[/name_f]/Addy too, though it could be too much of a stretch.
Renee is easier, but if you really prefer Renée, use it! The middle name won’t be used a lot anyway.
My favourite is [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f].
Lilia is a gorgeous name it’s one of the names that I have on my list for my daughter due in [name_f]February[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is a beautiful name sounds very lyrical and has the lovely meaning lily. She’s an international choice used in [name_u]Hawaii[/name_u], Eastern Europe and [name_u]Israel[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is beautiful. I prefer [name_f]Renee[/name_f] just because it’s simple and sounds pretty with [name_f]Lilia[/name_f].
It feels so much more interesting than [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] to me, with all the [name_f]Lily[/name_f] names popular now. But conversely, [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] makes for a more interesting and unusual middle name than [name_f]Renee[/name_f].
Both are pretty, but [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] just has that special spark
Ariadne, definitely! I don’t think it would cause particularly bad spelling problems (and honestly, everything causes spelling problems, even [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]). I think it’s stunning, and [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] makes for a lovely middle. I don’t think it needs a nickname, but you could use:
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_u]Ara[/name_u]
[name_f]Addie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ria[/name_f]
[name_f]Annie[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f] flows the best - and I prefer that [name_f]Renee[/name_f] spelling. Of the two first names I prefer [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], but I guess it could be difficult to spell if you’re unfamiliar with it
Ariadne is one of my all-time favorite names but I can’t use it so I will always push it on other people so I can live vicariously through them! It’s an easy name to learn and those who don’t learn how to pronounce it are just not trying (and probably not worth your time). I’d use [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as a nickname!
Lilia sounds to me like dozens of other names popular right now ([name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], etc.) whereas [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] is to me a fabulous name. So strong, pretty hard to imagine a wimpy [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]!
And regarding pronunciation, I realized I don’t really know how to say [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], whereas I’ve always known how to say [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]. With Greek names being so popular, as well as [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]/Percy [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]/Neil Gaiman influences, people now know how to say [name_f]Aphrodite[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], and [name_f]Hermione[/name_f].
Ari could be a nickname or [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. I’d just call her by [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] though for the pleasure of saying it.
