What is a full name that you like, but has a nickname that you don’t like
Mine would be [name_u]Micah[/name_u] and Jonah… I don’t like [name_m]Mike[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_u]Micah[/name_u] and I don’t like [name_u]Joe[/name_u] or [name_u]Joey[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_u]Jonah[/name_u].
Another one would be [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], I don’t like the nickname [name_m]Josh[/name_m].
For a girl, I love [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], but don’t like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]- don’t like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]
Victoria-don’t like [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]

I think I’m just really into the full versions of names lately. Some nicknames have become so boring or common that hearing the full name sounds refreshing.
Yeah, [name_m]Josh[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] is kind of a waste but I get it, lol. I have a friend named [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] and I call him Josho (Joso).
Anyway. I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and I don’t mind [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Bee[/name_f], [name_f]Trix[/name_f], or [name_f]Trixie[/name_f], but Beattie is a no no. I’m not too fond of it.
I also adore [name_u]August[/name_u], but if somebody calls him [name_u]Gus[/name_u] I might lose my mind.
I also like [name_m]Joshua[/name_m] but dislike [name_m]Josh[/name_m].
I like [name_f]Marlena[/name_f] but dislike [name_u]Marley[/name_u].
I like [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] but dislike [name_u]Nikki[/name_u].
I like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] but strongly dislike [name_u]Izzy[/name_u].
I’m sorry, but this has me wheezing as a Charlotte that goes by Charlie on here, and sometimes irl. I dislike Lottie with a passion (well, I’m fine with it because it’s one of my parents’ pet names for me, so I like it in that way, but the idea of going by it in general is just… not my thing I guess ) but Charlie?
(anyway, if it helps I’ve only ever been called by a nickname by my parents or if I ask someone to/tell them they can )
Victoria - Love the name because of queen Victoria and the Victorian era, but the image of Aunt Vicky from the og Parent Trap has been enough for me to now dislike the nickname
Madeline - Maddie is too 2000s for me, and I know so many
Alexander - I’d try to enforce the nn Xander from a young age, because Alex is not my thing at all lol
August - Love Auggie, but Gus ruins the sweet, summer-y, imagery I have in mind for August
Dorothy - I used to like Dottie, but then my brother ruined it for me by saying it’s like naming your child ‘crazy’ (argh!)
Georgiana - Luckily, I think George and Georgie are intuitive enough nicknames that many people would call her Ana, which I don’t love
Leonora - I actually love the nickname Nora, it’s one of my favorites! I just can’t pronounce it
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - this is what ultimately took her off my long list. I know I’d feel inclined to call her by a nickname & I just don’t like any of them!
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] - can’t get behind [name_u]Clem[/name_u] or [name_u]Clemmie[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_u]Cleo[/name_u] are sweet nicknames for her, they just don’t feel natural enough for me to use.

[name_f]Miriam[/name_f] - [name_f]Mimi[/name_f], [name_f]Miri[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f], [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], etc are not for me
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - I think [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is sweet, but it’s not natural enough that I would use it and Lav/Lavvy makes me think of lavatories.
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] - [name_f]Immy[/name_f] isn’t a nickname I can get behind
Eloise/Elspeth - El/Elle, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. Can’t do it
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] - [name_f]Lolo[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. I feel like this is something her friends might naturally shorten her name to & I’m not a fan
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - my favourite name! I adore [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but really dislike [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Ted[/name_m]. I know there’s a chance my son could choose to go by either of those if I get to use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] & I’ll respect his decision, but I reeeeallly hope he doesn’t

Going through my names to see what else there was, I realised the majority of my top names are unintentionally nickname proof/nickname would be forced if one were used lol. I just tend to prefer shorter names, but there are some exceptions obviously!
