I love my grandfather’s name [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (lee-rah). It’s simple, easy to pronounce, there is the musical connection and the celestial connection. The name gives a [Greek] mythological vibe without being obvious. I also love how the [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is more feminine, but it totally worked.
So, I’m trying to find a substitute for [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], mainly because I don’t like honor names, but [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] is kind of perfect. I’m looking for a short boy name that sounds a little feminine and is fun/unique as [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. There is no need to be a male name in its origin or tied to some mythology (though, it would be a plus).
[name_m]Don[/name_m]’t suggest: [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] or [name_f]Indra[/name_f].

[name_u]Bela[/name_u], [name_u]Rio[/name_u]: very literal in my language (Portuguese). [name_u]Bela[/name_u] is “pretty girl” and [name_u]Rio[/name_u], well, “river”, [name_u]Rio[/name_u] de Janeiro and the verb “[i] laugh”.
[name_f]Liz[/name_f]: this one falls in the “feminine”, short and fun categories, perfect. But I can’t stop thinking about my evil female teacher ;(

Well… we are Brazilians if you want to know. The instrument lyre is spelt “lira” (lee-rah) in Portuguese, so I have no idea why the Y. But I know that [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] was a “trendy” second given name for boys at some point (not like there was a shoot in popularity, but the name went from “virtually unknown” to “not surprising”). I believe my grandpa was named before the trend, but I may be wrong.
