I dislike the name [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] personally, but if someone else chose it for their son I wouldn’t think it was a horrible name or anything. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not my style. I don’t think it’s too out there either. You might get the occasional eye brow raise, or ‘Huh. That’s… different.’ remark, but I don’t think that would be something that would happen all the time. I think this is one of those if you love it, go for it kind of names.

I think [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] is nice. [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] would give your son options and I feel it could grow with him. He could go by [name_m]Maverick[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_f]Mave[/name_f], [name_m]Rick[/name_m], [name_u]Ricky[/name_u], [name_m]Johnny[/name_m]. Personally I really like [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Maverick[/name_m].

Sounds rather Rep./tea party to me, but maybe that connotation will fade in a few years.

[name_m]Maverick[/name_m] just sounds silly to me

I don’t like it, but it seems to be increasing in popularity so maybe the dislike I have for the name will be removed within the next generation.

It makes me think of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_u]Palin[/name_u].

I voted indifferent. It’s not my style, but if I met you and your son, I wouldn’t think anything negative about the name or your naming style. [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] reminds me of Top [name_m]Gun[/name_m] and I like the nn options!

I think it’s great! I have had it on my short list. A similar name that I also had on my list is [name_m]Merrick[/name_m] nn [name_u]Ricky[/name_u].

I just can’t get passed the car or movie references he’ll undoubtedly hear…

One of the other berries suggested [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Maverick[/name_m], which sounds super cool!!

It’s going to have to be a dislike from me. It just seems like its trying way too hard to be rebellious.

I dislike [name_m]Maverick[/name_m]. A child may or may not become a non-conformist, a rebel or a renegade but why the need to advertise it? It’s cheesy and sounds ridiculous to me. And I have a feeling that most people aren’t aware of the other definition of the word. It also means “an unbranded range animal especially a motherless calf”. I’d give it a pass.

[name_m]Major[/name_m] dislike. [name_m]John[/name_m] is lovely.

I like the name [name_m]Maverick[/name_m], but I think [name_m]John[/name_m] throws off the flow.

I really like [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] and [name_m]John[/name_m] together, and to me [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] sounds like a kind of guy everyone would be friends with. Good luck

I’m with [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]. If you really want to use the name, put it in the middle.

Maybe use [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] as a middle name? It reminds me of a very old TV western…

I find [name_m]Maverick[/name_m] to be a very cool name.

(Particularly with a brother named [name_m]Rogue[/name_m]!)

I know of an adorable mama with an adorable son by this name.

She affectionately refers to him as “my Mav,” which I think is quite irresistible.

my husband works with a man named [name_m]Maverick[/name_m]. They call him “Mav” and he is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. However, he gets a lot of ‘Top [name_m]Gun[/name_m]’ jokes and he hates that.

I’m not a fan of any horse-related names. [name_m]Colt[/name_m], [name_m]Colton[/name_m], [name_m]Maverick[/name_m]… it’s very western and I just want to tell people to give their baby a human name. I think that if you really like it, put it in the middle. [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_m]Maverick[/name_m].
