[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is one of my favourite names, and I’m hoping to call one of my twin girlies it. For a middle name, right now I like [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m]. What do you guys think to [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m] as a combo?
I know [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m] is technically a boys name, and not that well liked, but I think [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is quite a girly name and I like unisex names myself, so I don’t want it to be too frilly?
So [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m], yay or nay? Are there too many s’s? Does it go?
Too many ‘s’s, it seems to me. I like pairing a girly-girl name with a unisex or even boys’ name, but I am not sold right now on this one.
One criticism – for me it sounds as though it is maiden name or family name used second place, and if I knew one in real life, I would probably ask the mom, “Oh! Is [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m] your maiden name?”
Too rhyme-y for my taste. But to be fair I’m not generally a fan of alliteration in names. I think it’s important to write out and also say out loud the full name (with last name obviously) to really get the complete picture. I’m also a believer in asking yourself if that is a name you would have liked for yourself.
Neither [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] nor [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m] is at all to my personal taste, but I happen to like alliteration and I also don’t think the flow is as bad as others are saying. It isn’t perfect, but I’ve heard much, much worse.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about one of these?
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] (or [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f], if you think that looks more femme, but [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f]'s the original)
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is pretty, [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m] is ok… as a pair I don’t “hate” it but… the flow seems a bit off. If you love it then go for it though…
here are a few random suggestions if you’re interested…
I like it. [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is pretty and girly and modern-sounding. [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m] is the opposite, old-sounding, unusual and kind of androgenous. They seem well balanced together.
As long as your surname doesn’t start with “S” I don’t think the alliteration is a problem.
Esrever88’s alternate suggestions are beautiful- especially “[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] [name_u]Wynn[/name_u]”.
