So I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] but only as a nn for a longer form.

Until recently I was set on [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] with the nn of [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] but recently came across this new fav. tell me what you think of

Lillet ([name_f]Lil[/name_f]-et) nn “[name_f]Lilly[/name_f]”

Lillet [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a sibling for [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] “Imy” and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Lyndon[/name_m] “[name_f]Atti[/name_f]”

What about [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? (nickname [name_f]Lilly[/name_f])

Is it lil-it like [name_f]Violet[/name_f], or [name_f]Lil[/name_f]-ette, like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]? I think the second way is nicer than the first, but I really like [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], Lilica? Or you could hyphenate two names and call her [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]. [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]-[name_f]Kate[/name_f]?

We are using [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] for our baby girl. I will call her [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] or [name_f]Lil[/name_f]. My husband will call her [name_f]Lili[/name_f] ([name_f]Lily[/name_f]).

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is a little to common for my tastes but I do like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] :slight_smile:

It’s pronounced [name_f]Lil[/name_f]-ette like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] :slight_smile: I like Lilica! I did consider a hyphenated name of [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]-[name_f]Jane[/name_f] but thought it might be a bit much…
I also like [name_f]Lilith[/name_f] too :slight_smile:

I usually hate “made up names” but I really like Lilliet :slight_smile: And if your daughter decides it’s too weird, she will just go by [name_f]Lily[/name_f] anyway! It’s a beautiful combo of fresh and known

Lillet is actually a uncommon [name_m]French[/name_m] Surname :slight_smile: I saw it one and I guess it just stuck!

I really like it- super pretty. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a question: if it is a [name_m]French[/name_m] surname, won’t that mean that it would be said lil-[name_m]LAY[/name_m] (a la filet, poulet, croquet, cachet, crochet)? The spelling Lilette / Lillette might clear up pronunciation issues.

You are correct :slight_smile: It is originally pronounced lil-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]. Maybe a Lillett/Lillette spelling might be better? I like the [name_f]Lil[/name_f]-[name_m]LAY[/name_m] pronunciation because it sounds similar to [name_f]Lilly[/name_f].
