Lila, Charlotte, Emma, Anna

My husband and I are expecting our first child in [name_f]September[/name_f]. We already have a boy name picked out, but have not yet decided on a girl name. I know we will have a lot of time and we may change our minds in the meantime, but we are debating on the following names:

[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]

We like traditional, feminine names that will age well. We have a very common two syllable last name if that sways opinions in any way. Which of these names do you most prefer and why? Thank you in advance!

[name_f]Lila[/name_f] isn’t one I’d choose, but the other three I love! They’re all on my list.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any middle name ideas? I can’t really choose between the three, so I’m not much help  I don’t think you can go too far wrong!

I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] the most. After that i would pick [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

I think my favorite is [name_f]Lila[/name_f], especially if your last name is pretty common. I have to admit, though, you can’t go wrong with any of them

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is pretty too. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is very well used and I’m not a fan of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]…but I don’t like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]/[name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and I’m a nn person.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. So so so beautiful. Second is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], then [name_f]Emma[/name_f], then [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

We don’t have any middle names picked out yet, but will most likely use a family name. I’m even considering using my maiden name as a middle. Elizabeth and Ann are prevalent middle names in my family, but again those are very common names, so with our common last name those may be too “generic”. I’ve always loved the name Eloise and couldn’t get my husband on board with that one as a first name, so maybe we could use that as a middle

I love them all! I probably like [name_f]Emma[/name_f] the least. I think my favourite would have to be [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! Although I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are really pretty too! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] could be a nice choice

Of your names my favorites are [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is a little too popular for my taste, she’d be [name_f]Emma[/name_f] Last Initial all through school and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] feels…I suppose stuffy. But that’s merely my opinion and all four are classic and would age well!

Favourite to least favourite:

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]- demure and proper, beautiful and dignified. but a bit dark underneath, bewitching and enchanting. Probably because I think of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Karenina, great novel and fascinating character but not sure she’s a good namesake… Like the character, there’s something inexplicable that just draws me to the name, an aura of mystery?

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- A core classic that will never be trendy or go out of style, even if it is popular these days. Elegant and refined, but unpretentious- I could imagine a [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] being any kind of girl or woman, from a CEO or politician to an eccentric artist to an “outdoorswoman” unafraid of getting dirty.

[name_f]Emma[/name_f]- Sweet, dainty and lacey, maybe a bit too much so. It doesn’t really excite me. A lot of people like the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] connection but she’s actually one of the few [name_u]Austen[/name_u] characters I’m not fond of.

[name_f]Lila[/name_f]- It has a bright and spunky feel, but just doesn’t sound pretty to me, sorry.

Thank you all so much for the thoughtful responses! This gives my husband and I a lot to think about. I’m really enjoying everyone’s input

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is my favorite, but I also love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are on my long list. [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is pretty, but not as much, and I’m not a [name_f]Lila[/name_f] fan.
I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f] because it’s simple and gorgeous, feminine yet substantial, and has a long use of history (in many variants as well).

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are my favorites!

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is my favourite! I adore it, it’s my favourite girl’s name  It’s classic, timeless, and has the adorable nicknames [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] is my second favourite from your list, it sounds so gentle and feminine

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is my favorite by far! [name_f]My[/name_f] taste tends to be more unusual, but there’s just something about [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. It’s simple, elegant, likeable, feminine without being frilly…everything you could really ask for in a name.

I’d rank the rest of your list:

  1. [name_f]Emma[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Lila[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] are extremely popular at the moment. I think they will be the This upcomings generations version of [name_f]Danielle[/name_f], [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]. I had at least one in every class.

I like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] best because of the popularity of the other two.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]- [name_f]Emma[/name_f] feels very overused to me. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is gorgeous too but I think it is becoming very common. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] would be my favorite here.
