We are stuck on a girls name and getting down to the wire! Top of the list has remained [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] and I [name]LOVE[/name] this name but concerned it’s very trendy and less classic/timeless. The middle name must be either [name]Edith[/name] or [name]Celeste[/name] after my grandmother (husband has voted a big NO for either of these names as a first name).
[name]Lucinda[/name] may flow better than [name]Lucille[/name] but it depends if you want the extra syllable and if you even like [name]Lucinda[/name]!
[name]Lucy[/name] seems very trendy also and you could find you have the same issues that you have with [name]Lila[/name]. I think [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is beautiful but [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] is my favourite. It feels the most timeless and it seems to have a really beautiful flow to it. Good luck!
I think [name]Lucille[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is gorgeous! I also love [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] :). However, I may be a little biased… I’m [name]Eden[/name] [name]Lyla[/name].
I think [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is lovely, and I don’t think it’s trendy at all. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] would be pretty as well. I’m not a big fan of [name]Lucille[/name] myself.
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is gorgeous! I vastly prefer it to your other two choices. [name]Lucille[/name] feels still quite dated to me, and [name]Evelyn[/name] is currently much more popular than [name]Lila[/name]/[name]Lyla[/name]/[name]Lilah[/name]. [name]Even[/name] with the surge of double-“L” names ([name]Lily[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Lola[/name], [name]Lula[/name]/[name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Leila[/name], and other similar “L” names like [name]Leah[/name], [name]Lena[/name], [name]Lana[/name], [name]Luna[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], etc.), [name]Lila[/name] is distinct and lovely. I would love to meet a little [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name].
You could consider a longer name to get to [name]Lila[/name], like [name]Delilah[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], maybe even [name]Lucille[/name].
I think [name]Lucy[/name] is the most timeless, but also happens to be trending at the moment. I am not a fan of the -inda ending, so [name]Lucille[/name],[name]Lucie[/name], or [name]Lucienne[/name] would be my suggestions. I like [name]Edith[/name] with the first two and [name]Celeste[/name] with the third. [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is sweet, while [name]Lila[/name] may be a "classic"it definitely has some appeal. [name]Evelyn[/name] seems to be part of a -lyn ending trend, one that still has a long term popularity. I like [name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Celeste[/name], also a fan of [[QUOTE][/QUOTE]name]Evangeline[/name].
I love [name]Lila[/name]. I am not crazy about [name]Edith[/name], because I just think of an older lady when I hear it. I do like [name]Celeste[/name] though, but not sure how it sounds with [name]Lila[/name].
Thanks for thoughts and ideas everyone and glad to hear [name]Lila[/name] doesn’t completely scream out “trendy” because I really like it and it goes nicely with [name]Will[/name]! I just worry because I think of my name…[name]Kristen[/name]. I know [name]Kristen[/name] was super popular (even though my mum thought at the time that she invented it!) at the time in the mid 70’s however I do not know a ton of [name]Kristen[/name]'s, but I alos don’t know of anyone named [name]Kristen[/name] since the early 80’s. [name]Do[/name] you think this could be the case for [name]Lila[/name]? Ughh…maybe I am just putting too much thought into this!
I know an 8 yo [name]Lila[/name]. Very cute name. I do agree with previous poster that a longer version like [name]Delilah[/name] or [name]Liliana[/name] would give her more options as she grows.
Hmmm…I actually did consider going with something longer and using [name]Lila[/name] as a nn, but thought keeping it along the same idea as brother [name]Will[/name] might work better (however I guess technically doesn’t matter). His name is just [name]Will[/name] and not [name]William[/name] because we knew we were going to call him [name]Will[/name].
I agree with your thought here that [name]Lila[/name] and [name]Will[/name] go together just as they are, no longer no shorter. [name]Lila[/name] is a classic name to me too and not just because it was one of my Grandmother’s names.
As for popularity, I share your concern when considering my favorite names too. [name]Lila[/name] is listed (in 2011) at #163 which, although in the top 200 is no where close to the names that you hear everywhere. Compared to your name in 1976, [name]Kristin[/name] and [name]Kristen[/name] were #73 and #74 respectively, twice as popular as [name]Lila[/name] is now. Also, remember than even the TOP names for girls today are given to a smaller percentage of babies because there is a wider variety of names being given. If you want to talk more about popularity or other issues please do reply and I will write back.
I hope I convinced you that [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is the perfect name because from everything you have said there could not be a better choice. Good luck!
I really like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name]. To me it sounds very classic and timeless. Not super trendy at all.
My second choice would be [name]Lucille[/name] but because I strongly prefer [name]Edith[/name] to [name]Celeste[/name] I think the -e at the end of [name]Lucille[/name] runs together with the E- in [name]Edith[/name]. So [name]Lucinda[/name] [name]Edith[/name] would probably be better.
I think [name]Lila[/name] [name]Edith[/name] is more on-trend than trendy, if that makes sense. Current, but still familiar and classic. Of course it greatly depends on one’s own mental “rules” about such things, but I wouldn’t worry about it.
While [name]Edith[/name] has never been my personal style, it makes me think of [name]Edith[/name] [name]Piaf[/name] which is such a lovely namesake.
I think [name]Lila[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] would be lovely. I also like the suggestion of [name]Isla[/name], but with [name]Celeste[/name] rather than [name]Edith[/name] - I just think it flows better. I don’t think any of the names you’re considering are overly trendy, though, and they are all pretty - you can’t go wrong
