Lila vs. Aria vs. Corinna vs. Coralie vs. Vivienne ~~ WDYT??

Well the subject pretty much says it all… :wink:
We are ttc, so I’ve been in search of the ‘perfect’ name. (Is there really even such a thing?) [name]Every[/name] time I think I’ve found ‘THE ONE’, it seems like I start thinking about it too much, and picking it apart, and pretty soon I’m not sure if I like it any more. :confused: So, some fresh thoughts and suggestions would be very much appreciated! What do you think of these names, and do you have any other suggestions for names my husband and I might like? I would like to find a name that is familiar, but not overly popular, easy to spell and pronounce. Also I love having the option of a nn! :slight_smile:
My husband and I both like all of these names, we just can’t decide which one is best, or if there is a better name out there somewhere. We do have other names on our list, but these are our favorites, and the ones we would be most likely to use.

*[name]Lila[/name] (lie-la)
*[name]Aria[/name] (AR-ee-uh)
*[name]Corinna[/name] (cor-INN-uh)
*[name]Coralie[/name] (coral-ee) hubs prefers [name]Corinna[/name], I can’t decide wich one I prefer
*[name]Vivienne[/name] (viv-ee-ENN)

[name]Charlotte[/name], nn [name]Lottie[/name], has also been considered. My husband isn’t crazy about [name]Charlotte[/name], but likes [name]Lottie[/name] (wich is a family name). I go back and forth - one day I think [name]Lottie[/name] is really cute, and another day I’m just not so sure… I hesitate to even mention [name]Charlotte[/name] here because I know it is such a favorite on NB, and I’m afraid everyone will like it much better than the rest of the names on our list… :smiley:

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can share on our list! I need a fresh look at these! :slight_smile:

I think [name]Lila[/name] is the best (without knowing any other mns or last names). For all the other names (except [name]Aria[/name]), she’ll spend her life explaining how to spell them. [name]Lila[/name] is lovely, sweet and classic.

I agree, [name]Lila[/name] is my fav from the ones listed. I do like [name]Corinne[/name] over [name]Corinna[/name]. [name]Vivienne[/name] is nice too, but I like the others more.

In the order of best to worst (in my opinion):

[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Corinna[/name]

I love the first three (on my list), [name]Coralie[/name] is pretty, but I don’t like [name]Corinna[/name] at all. If your husband likes [name]Corinna[/name] more than [name]Coralie[/name], and it’s becoming an argument, just go with one of the other three, which are all very pretty names.

I actually quite like all the names on your list.
[name]Lila[/name] is simple and sweet. [name]Aria[/name] is very pretty. [name]Corinna[/name] is also gorgeous though I prefer just [name]Corinne[/name]. [name]Coralie[/name], though my least favourite out of your choices is really cute. And [name]Vivienne[/name] is very beautiful. [name]Charlotte[/name] is nice though I do prefer your other choices.
My fave would probably be [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name]. I think they are both beautiful and familiar but not very popular. Also I don’t think anybody will have much trouble with spelling or pronunciation.
What are you thinking for nicknames/middle names?
[name]How[/name] many syllables is your last name?
Which one is your fave right now? Which one is your hubby’s fave?

Wow, thank you all so much for the quick, and very helpful, responses!!! :slight_smile:
To answer a couple of questions… Our last name begins with M, and is two syllables. For a middle name we would like to use [name]Diana[/name] or [name]Diane[/name] (a family name). I’m not too worried about having to spell the name for people - I have a very common name, but one that has multiple spellings, and it’s really not that big of a deal to just spell it for people if needed. I think my husband’s very favorite from this list would be [name]Lila[/name]. I also really like [name]Lila[/name] - I just wish it had a nn, although it is short enough that it really doesn’t ‘need’ one - I just like nn’s as kind of an endearment. We both also really like [name]Aria[/name] (with occasional nn [name]Ari[/name]) and [name]Vivienne[/name] (nn [name]Viv[/name]/[name]Vivie[/name]?). I would say that for both of us [name]Coralie[/name] (nn [name]Cora[/name]/[name]Coral[/name]/[name]Cori[/name])and [name]Corinna[/name] (same nn’s) would be at the bottom of our short list. I love all of these names - so I guess we’ll just have to have 3 or 4 girls! :smiley: Also just to give you an idea of possible brothers, our top picks for boys’ names are [name]Griffin[/name], and [name]Beckett[/name] or [name]Bennett[/name].
I really don’t feel like we have to narrow it down to one name at this point, but just kind of wanted to get a fresh look at all of them, and see which ones (if any) the Berries like best. :wink:
Thanks so much for the help so far!

Wow - I just set up an NB account so I could post for help on baby names. One of the names we are considering is [name]Aria[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] - two of your name choices. I guess [name]Aria[/name] isn’t as different as I was thinking that it was;-)

I am glad to see the positive responses to the name in your thread!

I think [name]Aria[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] flow well together and even though [name]Aria[/name] is a short name to begin with - I love the nn [name]Ari[/name].

Leoplus1, welcome to Nameberry! I love, love, [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Aria[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]!!! What a lovely choice! If we weren’t planning to use a family name as a middle, I’d be VERY tempted to ‘steal’ your name! :wink: lol! I think [name]Aria[/name] is still pretty uncommon, at least I’ve never met or heard of anyone with the name. I came across it here on the nameberry message boards, and fell in love with it! :slight_smile:

I like almost all these choices! From most favorite to least favorite…

[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Corinna[/name]
[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]

Right now we are planning to use [name]Coraline[/name] for our baby if he/she is a girl, so I’m very partial to your [name]Coralie[/name]. :slight_smile: [name]Aria[/name] is also very nice, and a name I considered at one point. As other berries have also said, I do prefer simple [name]Corinne[/name] to [name]Corinna[/name], but doubtless you’ve thought of that one and prefer [name]Corinna[/name] for reasons of your own. :slight_smile: [name]Vivienne[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] feel more “sassy” and spunky to me, personally, while the other three are a little sweeter and less flashy. It depends on the “feel” you’re going for, I’d say.

I have to say, I [name]LOVE[/name] your boy name idea [name]Griffin[/name], too! Very nice. [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name] sound stunning together, imho…actually, [name]Griffin[/name] would sound great with ANY of these girl names, except perhaps [name]Vivienne[/name], which feels like it’s coming from a very different direction. [name]Beckett[/name] and [name]Bennet[/name] are nice too.

Leoplus1, I’m also new here on Nameberry! [name]Aria[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name]…lovely name. :slight_smile:

[name]Aria[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] are probably my favorites off your list. [name]Corinna[/name] would have a lot pronounciation errors and [name]Lila[/name] is just to trendy right now. [name]Coralie[/name] feels a little made up to me.

[name]Lila[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] or [name]Lila[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] are beautiful pairings. I’m not a fan of trendy [name]Aria[/name] (it’s an operatic term not a girls name in my opinion. I think the name will rise and fade and become dated quite quickly). [name]Corinna[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name] are ok. All the best!

I’ve just recently heard the name [name]Aria[/name], and I really like it. There’s a fairly popular teen show on ABC Family (Pretty [name]Little[/name] Liars) where one of the main characters is named [name]Aria[/name], so I have a feeling that it will go up in popularity (at least some) because of that show. It’s still on my list though. :slight_smile:

[name]Lila[/name] for sure! I absolutely adore [name]Lila[/name] (: Good luck naming!

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to each one of you who told me what you think of the names on our list! You all have been so helpful! I was so pleasantly surprised at all the favorible responses! :slight_smile: You all have given me a lot to think of, and a fresh look at these names…
We have been planning to use [name]Diane[/name] or [name]Diana[/name] as a middle name to honor a family member, but another consideration would be to use [name]Diana[/name] (nn [name]Annie[/name]) as a first name. What do you think? [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Diana[/name] any better than the other names on our list?

Good choices!
[name]Lila[/name] is my absolute favorite girl name, and has been for 10 years. That’s why I named my 19 month old daughter that. I can’t help it if I liked something before it became “trendy”! :slight_smile: (PP comment saying it’s “trendy” right now…:wink:
I like them in this order:
[name]Lila[/name] (obvs.)
Vivenne ( I [name]LOVE[/name] THIS! Def a choice for a mn for a daughter for me!! Haha!)
[name]Coralie[/name]~ adorable!!
[name]Aria[/name] (sounds beautiful and melodic…just like an …[name]ARIA[/name]…LOL! However, being a [name]Vegas[/name] girl, there’s a hotel called [name]Aria[/name] here, so it slightly ruins it for me personally. But gorgeous name.)
[name]Corrina[/name]
You have great boy choices too…I have a nephew named [name]Beckett[/name], and I love his name. We also have great family friends with a son named [name]Bennett[/name] and it’s darling too. But they took the awesome boy names…grrrr! :slight_smile:

Oh, [name]Diana[/name] is classic and beautiful to me also. NN [name]Annie[/name] is adorable!! Oh, and [name]Weston[/name] is such an awesome boy name too…we have the same taste in names…haha! :slight_smile:

We named out little girl [name]Aria[/name] born one year ago today and we’ve been very happy with the name.

I think [name]Diana[/name] as a fn is brilliant! [name]Diana[/name] [name]Coralie[/name] and [name]Diana[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] are beautiful names. It would definitely be in my top 3 choices if you added it as a fn option. You can’t go wrong with a classic that isn’t that overused nowadays nor dated.

I also love [name]Coralie[/name] and [name]Vivienne[/name] as fn options w/ [name]Diana[/name] in the middle. I don’t think [name]Coralie[/name] is that hard to pronounce or spell, [name]Cordelia[/name] is a family name for me and I have always been in love w/ nn [name]Cora[/name]. Have you considered [name]Cordelia[/name]? It may be more familiar to people in pronunciation and spelling than [name]Coralie[/name]. With the popularity of Brangelina I’m sure people are more now than ever privy to put the accent on the ENNE In [name]Vivienne[/name]. There is also [name]Viviana[/name] which to me is similar in feel to [name]Aria[/name] but more substantial. [name]Aria[/name] is no doubt beautiful, just not my first choice. I have a friend named [name]Arianna[/name] that goes by [name]Ari[/name] and it’s very cool on a young woman. Would be a great nn option.

I might be in the minority, but I find [name]Diana[/name] to be a bit dated. It makes a lovely mn but as a fn it feels a little stale. I love the idea of [name]Aria[/name] [name]Diane[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Diana[/name].

Wow, thanks for keeping the advice coming - I’m loving this!!! :slight_smile: I love dreaming of the day when we will have a little baby to love, and name (we are currently ttc)! :slight_smile: But I think my sweet husband gets a little tired of me asking about names all the time. All the names I’ve listed are names I love, and names my husband says he likes too. The funny thing is sometimes he will say he likes a name, so I’ll add it to the list, but a few weeks or months later when I mention the same name he’ll be like, “Ehh, it’s ok, not my favorite, there are others I like better…” Lol! :slight_smile: So I love running my ideas by you all here on NB!

@Coleybear,
Awww so you have a little [name]Lila[/name] of your own?! That’s my husband’s current favorite name from the list of names that we agree on, and I’m starting to love it more and more! Thanks for your kind comments - fun to hear from someone who has similar tastes! :slight_smile:

@jillymommy,
So you have a daughter named [name]Aria[/name]? I love it, and I’m so happy to hear you all are happy with her name! I’ve never met anyone with this name, only seen it here on NB. What is the general reaction to your daughter’s name? [name]Do[/name] most people know how to pronounce/spell it? [name]Do[/name] people seem to think it’s a pretty name, or something strange that sounds made up…? I hate that what other people think matters so much to me, but to some extent it just does! :confused:

@kashed22,
Thanks so much for your feedback, and suggestions! I have considered [name]Cordelia[/name], but hubby doesn’t care much for it, and I’m afraid I’d be a little too chicken to use the name anyway for some reason - don’t know why… I’d love it on someone else’s daughter. :slight_smile: I also really like your suggestion of [name]Viviana[/name]! I think it’s lovely, but my husband didn’t care for it when I suggested it… :frowning:

@leah_9,
I can understand you thinking [name]Diana[/name] sounds a bit dated. I kind of feel that way myself, and go back and forth on wheather it fells usable or not. The nn [name]Annie[/name] makes it feel fresher, but I still don’t know that we’d actually use it as a fist name… The reason I fist started considering it as a first name is because ever since my mom passed away years ago, I’ve wanted to use my mom’s name as a middle name for our first daughter. But my husband would also like to honor his mother with our fist daughter’s name (I would like to honor her too, but just maybe with a second daughter). [name]Diana[/name]/[name]Diane[/name] would honor my mom, and [name]Ellen[/name], or [name]Joy[/name]/[name]Jocelyn[/name]/[name]Joyce[/name] would honor his mom. My husband has suggested [name]Ellen[/name] [name]Diane[/name], but to me that sounds dated.??? So I started thinking maybe we could use [name]Diana[/name] nn [name]Annie[/name] as the first name (I think I prefer that to [name]Ellen[/name]). Anyway, all that to say the only way we would maybe use [name]Diana[/name] as a fist name would be if we end up trying to honor both of our moms with one daughter. If we decide to honor my mom with our first daughter’s name, and his mom if we have another daughter, than we will most likely use one of the other names on our list… [name]Hope[/name] all that makes sence! :slight_smile:

Again, thank you all so much for all the help, advice, suggestions, etc! I love Nameberry!!! :smiley:
