[name]Hi[/name] i love the name [name]Lila[/name] but live in australia where every name has a nickname and am worried about the nickname Lie and the fact that it has Lie in it. What do you all think?
My nephew’s daughter is named Dahlila (strange spelling I know) and they call her [name]Lila[/name]. If you love the name [name]Lila[/name], [name]Delilah[/name] or or something similar would be a good choice to get the nickname of [name]Lila[/name]. And I wouldn’t worry about Li or Lie as a nickname; I don’t think anyone would have a negative association with it and it still sounds cute!
I live in [name]California[/name] and know about 15 [name]Lila[/name]'s pronounced [name]LYla[/name] and none have the nickname LIE. My daughter is [name]Lila[/name] pronounced leela and she has no nickname.
I think that [name]Lila[/name] is beautiful, but I think the Lie nickname (which I’ve never heard) would bother me, too. She could always go without the nickname, though! I grew up with a [name]Lila[/name] who has gone by her full name her entire life. (I love the [name]Delilah[/name] idea, too.)
Good luck!
I have not heard of any nns for [name]Lila[/name] but if I were to imagine some I’d think of [name]Lia[/name], [name]Lily[/name], or [name]Lil[/name].
I thought no one else in the world had spelled their name as mines. And people often mispronounce it because of the different spelling. Nonetheless I love my name, no other would fit me! I don’t even have a middle name. My family and close friends call me [name_f]Dee[/name_f] for short. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is reserved for my grandparents.
