Lilah or...something else?

My husband and I settled on the name [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] for our last baby, a girl, due in [name_m]September[/name_m]. We have two boys, [name_m]Remington[/name_m] (Remi), and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m].

I feel like we’ve looked at so many names, and now that we’ve decided, I’m second-guessing our decision. Does [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] match our boys names? Or should I go back to the drawing board, which would probably drive my husband nuts at this point

[name_f]Any[/name_f] advice or reassurance is appreciated!

I think [name_m]Remington[/name_m], [name_m]Emerson[/name_m], and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are lovely, they all have a somewhat modern, but also not incredibly trendy feel. They’re very nice together, and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is a very pretty name. Good luck!

I would argue that [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] feels more like a nickname in comparison to [name_m]Remington[/name_m] and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m].
Both boy’s names have a strong, sophisticated surname-turned-first-name energy. So to match the same vibe as brother’s names, I’d suggest perhaps [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and nicknaming her [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]?
Otherwise I’d say that [name_f]Isla[/name_f] perfectly captures the exact same breezy, light vowel-heavy feel as [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], but carries the same high-end, tailored charm that pairs beautifully with brother’s names.
[name_f]Harper[/name_f] like R & E, has a literary, structured feel but still has an effortless grace to it. [name_f]Sienna[/name_f] is warm and sophisticated like E. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a longer girls name which offers many different nicknames, and it matches the energy as brother’s names. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] also perfectly merges the “w” and “ll” sounds that make [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] feel so gentle compared to R & E. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] any of these help!

That’s exactly what I was going to say! I agree, [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] feels somehow incomplete next to the longer boys’ names, and she’s more breezy and casual than them, too. [name_m]Gentle[/name_m], elegant [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] solves that problem while still giving you the name you want :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I don’t think you need to have the same style for sons and daughters. There’s only a 1 syllable difference between [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] and your boys’ names. I think the boys’ names feel heavier because they’re surnames with a lot of consonants.

I love the name [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but my husband does not. We could agree on the name [name_f]Lyla[/name_f], which is why I went with the spelling of [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] as a sort of middle ground. It’s been a rough time to find a girl’s name that we both like, as we seem to have completely different styles!:sweat_smile:

If not [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] (which I think would go wonderfully with your other two) about [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] or [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lila[/name_f]?

But I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] works, and it’s more importers you like the single name than it’s the so called perfect sibset!

[name_f]Remi[/name_f] , [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] an [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are beautiful together ! I think you have an outstanding set and I would t question it !

I feel like because [name_f]Remi[/name_f] and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] share the strong em sound you may feel like you have to follow a pattern . If you feel like you need to stick with a pattern I would suggest [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] , [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_m]Salem[/name_m] , [name_m]Demaris[/name_m]

[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] is beautiful! I’m wondering if maybe she feels short because she feels like she SHOULD be a nickname for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]? With [name_f]Remi[/name_f] and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m], honestly, I don’t find [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] any shorter, even though [name_f]Remi[/name_f] has a longer full name. And [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] especially feel like a brother/sister duo made in heaven! [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_f]Remi[/name_f] work great together too. I personally prefer the [name_f]Lila[/name_f] spelling, but either way, it’s a great name! If you’re worried about length, I agree that [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], etc, could make great longer options, but I think just Lila(h) is great just how she is! I would love to have a little Lila(h) in my life

I think [name_m]Remington[/name_m], [name_m]Emerson[/name_m], & [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] are strong and classy together! If something feels off, it may be an indicator that [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] may not be the name you’re longing for? In which case I’d take a break from searching, and come back with a clear mind! Both of you may just need a short reset

No matter what, at least you have a beautiful name like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] to always come back to :purple_heart:

This may be true! We’ve spent so much time looking at names since we found out the gender. It could be a bit of name fatigue. I do love the name [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], though, so getting confirmation that it meshes well helps ease my mind a bit. Thank you!!

I think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] does feel more nicknamey in comparison to your older kids names which feel longer and more formal. I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] could be a good solution to create a more cohesive sibling set. Still I do not think cohesion is paramount in sibling sets and if you like [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] go for it.

Yes, I love the name [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but my husband does not. [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] was our compromise. I think we’ll stick with it, but maybe once she’s born it’ll feel like it matches more.

I actually think [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] fits really well with [name_m]Remington[/name_m] and [name_m]Emerson[/name_m]. Your boys’ names feel modern, familiar, and a little polished without being overly trendy, and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] has that same vibe to me. It also balances the longer boys’ names nicely with something softer and more feminine.
