Any thoughts on this? Think it’s very pretty but I think the spelling is a bit out there for my husband! Maybe [name_f]Emer[/name_f] would be safer.
Sorry for lots of threads. I’m only three months pregnant so don’t even know the sex yet. Kind of hoping it’s a boy, because I have so many girls with good names amongst my family/friends that it makes it a lot harder!
I adore the sweet, beautiful [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I have [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] on my short list. I don’t think I have ever heard of [name_f]Eimear[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] are you pronouncing the name?
I really like it. I say stick with [name_f]Eimear[/name_f] spelling. It’s prettier that way and placed in the middle, so won’t cause daily spelling trouble anyway.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’m having a tough time saying [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Eimear[/name_f], with the back-to-back strong “E” sounds? I think it looks delicate, spunky, and charming, and I lovelovelove [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but I’m not sure I love the two paired together. Maybe if you put something in between them, like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Eimear[/name_f]? or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Eimear[/name_f]? I do think [name_f]Emer[/name_f] is easier to swallow–at least here in the States–but in general, I’m all for keeping the traditional spelling (I definitely wouldn’t spell [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] as [name_m]Shamus[/name_m] or Shaemus or something equally awful!), so I’m sure people would catch on, and it’s only a middle name. Plus, she’d be known as [name_f]Lily[/name_f], no? So I don’t think [name_f]Eimear[/name_f] is very much of an issue at all. If you can say [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Eimear[/name_f] better than I can, I think it’s a winner!
