Lily Primrose-Marie

So, I’m having a baby girl and I’m struggling to come up what names I like or that “feel” right for her.

I really like floral, feminine and unique names. I know [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is super common but the hubby doesn’t like [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] or [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]. I was thinking about [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] but my fam thinks it’s “too floral.” I like vintage-y names also and am open to other flower/names since she is due in early [name_u]June[/name_u]. I really like [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f], [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], and [name_f]Violette[/name_f] but my SO doesn’t like any of those. The only name we somewhat both like is [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but it’s way too common and nickname-y for my liking.

[name_m]Long[/name_m] story short, all I have so far is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] being the first name, and [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] being the middle name. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name? Please let me know since I’m really panicking and struggling to find names that work. Please leave any suggestions (they don’t have to be only floral names)

Would a spelling variant of [name_f]Lily[/name_f] make it seem more appealing? [name_f]Lillie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]? Or slight variants, like [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] or Lilienne?

These are all floral/nature names…

What about [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f]?

I do love [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] as a middle, lily is okay, but I’m not sure of the other all flow.
Other alternatives for [name_f]Lily[/name_f]: [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Galilee[/name_f] or [name_f]Galilea[/name_f], [name_f]Lilah[/name_f], [name_f]Lilias[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f].

Suggestions:
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Petunia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]/ [name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f])

I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] is cute.
I like the pp about [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Lily[/name_f]’

I think that it is too floral.

I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] has a nice flow, but there are two major concerns for me. One is the hyphenated middle. Would you be okay going with just a double middle, so [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]? To me this makes it feel less fussy and more streamlined. The other is that it might be a bit too floral, although I do really adore [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. One of my first thoughts: If not [name_f]Violetta[/name_f], what about [name_f]Viola[/name_f]? [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is another possibility, or [name_f]Liana[/name_f], which is more subtly floral, instead of [name_f]Lily[/name_f].

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]: This beautiful, vibrant flower name is far less common than [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but still has a prominent “l” sound and long “e” sound. It’s also got the “o” from [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], and even the first four letters of [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] is another idea with similar qualities.
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]: This has the same ending sound as [name_f]Lily[/name_f], is still nature related and every bit as sweet and feminine, but far less used. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] is another possibility.
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]: [name_u]Unique[/name_u] and beautiful, yet easily pronounced and recognized. [name_f]Briar[/name_f] is tailored whilst also being feminine, and it has the strong “r” sounds from [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]: Elegant, rare, evocative, and beautiful combination of [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] are additional great options.
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]: One of the most elegant and feminine options out there. It recalls the likes of [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], and doesn’t immediately feel floral, which might be a plus for your family.
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]/[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]: I think this could be absolutely perfect. Since he likes [name_f]Lily[/name_f], I’m assuming he prefers more familiar names. [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] is a timeless, elegant, sweet classic, so it fits the bill. However, it is very unique, and is not even in the Top 1000! Bonus: The meaning is “lily.” It also doesn’t scream floral, so you could keep the middles as is.
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]: Another floral name that is subtly so. It balances quirky and familiar, modern and elegant.
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]: Short and sweet, like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but far, far rarer.

Tbh it’s much too floral for my tastes, I find [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] even more floral than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] alone. And I do find the hyphenated Prumrose-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] a bit odd given that stylistically they’re so different, I’d think 2 middles would be better. But you and your partner’s opinions are the only ones that really matter.

What sort of names DOES your partner like? Or is he as helpful as mine - all veto and no suggestions?!
