Lily - usable or overdone?

Hello! I absolutely love [name_f]Lily[/name_f], it checks all my boxes, except one - it’s very popular. Should I still use it or look for an alternative? When you hear that someone’s name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f], do you have pleasant associations or thoughts like “ohh, another one”? Maybe I’m overthinking…

If you love it then I think you should use it :relaxed: maybe a little popular, but still very beautiful

Lily is a great name! I only know of one little [name_f]Lily[/name_f], so it doesn’t seem too popular to me at all. (But I suppose it depends on where you live.) I always find the name sweet and pretty, not boring or overdone. If you love [name_f]Lily[/name_f], go for it! I wouldn’t hesitate if I were you.

I personally find it overdone but that’s not more important than using the name you love.

I understand how you’re feeling - one of my favourite boy names is [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] :weary:. If it’s your absolute favourite, I say use it anyway.

I have a niece [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and it fits her so well. I love the name. You could consider [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], or Liliet as full names and use [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a nickname.

I’ve never met a [name_f]Lily[/name_f] before. It still seems fresh, but that might just be me. I think that if you love it, you should go for it!

How about [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]? (not as popular).

I honestly love [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. It’s so beyond sweet. I personally have always preferred it as a middle but I still so appreciate it as a first. I’ve met only one [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and although it was not the best association, it never changed my opinion on the name. I’m also reminded of actress [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_u]Collins[/name_u] who I find to be such a classic beauty. I love the name and if you do too, why not use it!

I’m sorry, I do. :pensive:

It sounds like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is the name you truly love and feel enthusiastic about–to me that is more than enough reason to use it! Popular names are popular for a reason! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is lovely. If you particularly feel like you want a less common name, and you have one you love equally, then I can see why you might lean that direction. But if nothing else gives you the same feeling [name_f]Lily[/name_f] does, I absolutely think you should go for it!

Ive never known a [name_f]Lily[/name_f] personally

I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f]! It was my top choice for a long time. It did get a little popular but it’s a classic, like [name_f]Anna[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Popularity doesn’t seem to effect the appeal of a classic name as much as a trendy one. I think that’s why so many parents still choose classic names.

I say go for it! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a perfect choice.

I do find it a little overdone between the [name_f]Lily[/name_f]’s [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]’s Lillians and Lilianas who all go by [name_f]Lily[/name_f]/Lilly that I know, but it is sweet and definitely still usable!

My name is [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and I would say it’s over done FOR MY GENERATION however I don’t see a lot of new baby [name_f]Lily[/name_f]’s anymore. I would say go for it, it’s a very pretty name that grows well with the child and is girly with out being “frilly”. Of course all of this is my personal bias

I think it’s really beautiful, and if you love it, you should definitely use it. The great thing about [name_f]Lily[/name_f], is that even if it is a little popular, it doesn’t feel trendy at all. It’s a lovely, timeless choice.

Lily is timeless and popular for a reason! Since you’re worried about the popularity, I would choose a more unique middle to pair with it – maybe something that lends itself to initials as a nickname.

Another option might be [name_f]Calla[/name_f] (as in [name_f]Calla[/name_f] lilies).

More like oh! another one. I like it but I do know a ton.

Lily is really sweet but sophisticated!

I haven’t actually met that many

It’s totally usable! I know one [name_f]Lily[/name_f], one [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Lily[/name_f]’ and a [name_f]Lilly[/name_f].
