I love these combos but only recently discovered that [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] ([name_f]Lin[/name_f]-NAY-uh) is also a type of flowering plant. I don’t believe that’s the origin of the name, but is it still too much with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f]? I like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as well, but I don’t think it flows as well.
I would say those combos are both too flowery, sorry. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] are actually very popular and well-known, so I think most people would agree with me. Really lovely names, though. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] has a wonderful feel, I like it a lot.
I don’t think they’re too much. I didn’t even know [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] was a flowering plant. I wouldn’t consider that common knowledge, like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
That said, my faves are [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]! I’m not a fan of [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], or [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] would be nice as well and I don’t think flower middles would be a problem
I like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] a lot! [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely, too. I don’t think most people would know that [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]'s a flower name, so I actually like the flower middle. I forgot about it, myself, until I thought about it for a second. I think they’re great.
I only just found out that there’s a flowering plant called [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] through Nameberry. I don’t think it’s that well known. Besides, you choose the name at the end of the day. If you like it, use it!
I don’t think non-name nerds will know that [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] is a flower, so i think you would be fine using either name. They’re both gorgeous! Honestly, I associated [name_f]Violet[/name_f] with the color more than the flower, so that would be a good one to use if you’re worried about the name being too flowery. I hope I make sense. haha
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f] is definitely associated with flora as the origin of the name is from a famous botanist, [name_m]Carl[/name_m] Linneas. You can find more explanation on the nameberry listing of the name. So not only name aficionados will know the association. I find [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] very naturey, floral, etc. So pairing it with an even more distinctly floral name becomes overkill. I do agree with a previous poster that you could do [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] for example (gorgeous!) and not sound like you are listing plants.
I knew [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] was a flower separately from Nameberry. I find it too much. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]'s a lovely name.
I love [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] too but agree that middles [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] may be too overtly flowery (to use your word). I like your [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] combo and also [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f].
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f] makes me think about the children’s book in which a girl named [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] wanders through [name_f]Monet[/name_f]’s garden. It’s a beautiful book. If you choose [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] for your daughter I would definitely get her a copy! It’s what made me fall in love with [name_f]Linnea[/name_f].
I love, love, love [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. Stunning combination.
Thanks, everyone! [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] has grown on me since I started this thread. I think I agree with some of you that [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would be too much…but I haven’t quite given up on [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] yet. Also, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] has a special connection for me, as it’s the name of the street of my childhood home.
This is what I get for never gardening–my mother would be so ashamed that I didn’t know that [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] is a plant.
I love [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. If [name_f]Violet[/name_f] has special meaning to you, that might trump the floweryness of the combo.
I really like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f].So preetty. Not flowery at all just nicely feminine.
