Today when browsing the forums I saw the name [name]Linus[/name]. Because I grew up with annual showings of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Brown[/name]!” and “A [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Brown[/name] [name]Christmas[/name]” I never appreciated how handsome [name]Linus[/name] really is. Besides the blanket loving [name]Linus[/name] there’s [name]Humphrey[/name] [name]Bogart[/name]'s [name]Linus[/name] Larabee from [name]Sabrina[/name] and St. [name]Linus[/name].
What do you think, Berries? Is [name]Linus[/name] usable or will it just mean endless teasing? Does anyone else think [name]Linus[/name] is great? What would you put in the middle spot? And does it go well with [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Darwin[/name], [name]Crispin[/name] and [name]Leopold[/name]?
Thanks again, Berries!
I think [name]Linus[/name] handsome and wearable. For some reason, I really like names that end in -s so this one is very appealing to me. [name]Link[/name] would be a cool nickname if your son didn’t like it as much. Also, I don’t just think of [name]Linus[/name] from Peanuts (although he is a great character with my simple wisdom) but rather I think of St. [name]Linus[/name] too.
I love it and it’s been on my list for a while! I keep hoping my husband will come around and agree.
Edit: Linus Torvalds and Linus Pauling are both worthy namesakes as well, if you’re a little geeky like we are.
I know an almost 2 yr old [name]Linus[/name] and it works for him. His parents love the name!
I really like [name]Linus[/name]; it’s on my own list. There’s sort of a jazzy, easygoing vibe about it that appeals to me. [name]Linus[/name] goes great with your other favorites.
I love [name]Linus[/name]. I think a certain type of person could really rock this name and make it extraordinarily awesome.
For my kids, I always tend to choose a less-than-popular first name with a more common middle name (example: [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Owen[/name]), so I’d go with something like [name]Linus[/name] [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Linus[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] or [name]Linus[/name] [name]Oliver[/name].
The Peanuts character is a stronger association but I also grew up knowing of the biblical [name]Linus[/name]. I didn’t start liking the name until [name]Matt[/name] [name]Damon[/name]'s character in the [name]Ocean[/name]'s franchise
I love it of course. I love that everyone has heard of it, knows how to say and spell it yet nobody really has it local to me except my ds. People do love it when they hear it, and it firs him so well and will age well too. So yes, its a fabulous name from personal experience in actually using it.
I think it’s becoming more wearable as time goes on. A lot of -us names are becoming popular so this one fits right in. I have some friends who were considering [name]Linus[/name] a couple of years ago and I thought it wasn’t wearable then, but they went with [name]Atticus[/name] instead. I think [name]Linus[/name] would have probably been easier to wear.
Today’s kids are so awash in different cartoon universes, from Curious [name]George[/name] to Sponge [name]Bob[/name], that I think it’s probably fine to use. Peanuts aren’t nearly as universal and dominant as they were when I was a child. I think it’s a great name.
[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Linus[/name]!
I met an adorable four year old [name]Linus[/name] about a year or two ago and it caused me to completely fall for this name.
Sorry but i just think: ‘Ughh…’. It’s like [name]Stanley[/name] or [name]Eugene[/name].
[name]Linus[/name] is still all about [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Brown[/name] for me. [name]Imo[/name], it doesn’t sound handsome but more like a medical term or piece of anatomy. If I were to pair it with one of your choices I’d go with [name]Linus[/name] [name]Crispin[/name]. [name]Linus[/name] [name]Leopold[/name] is too alliterative, a no-go for me.
I’m not a fan of [name]Linus[/name]. It’s a last name where I come from and that’s was it will always be to me, I also think it’s a little girly.
I’ve got a new baby middle name [name]Linus[/name]. After [name]Linus[/name] Pauling. My husband ADORES the name and the scientist, but I was a bit eh… It is one of the most popular boys names in [name]Sweden[/name].
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Linus[/name]! I remember when I had a stage of reading online ‘mommy’ blogs and there was a woman who blogged about her son, who was called [name]Linus[/name]. (he had brothers too, I think… I cant remember.) and since then I’ve LOVED the name so much. At first I could just think of the character, but after a while I just began to love it so much.
I think it’s definitely wearable!
I love [name]Linus[/name], but my husband can’t stand how “whiny” it sounds. If it were entirely up to me I would very seriously consider choosing [name]Linus[/name] for our next boy.
I don’t like it. The fact that it rhymes with “sinus” and also sounds so whiny produces an image of a nasally-voiced hypochondriac carrying a kleenex around. [name]Just[/name] my opinion.
I love [name]Linus[/name]! As the little philosopher in “Peanuts” and just as a great name is general. Definitely worth using! I like [name]Crispin[/name] and [name]Leopold[/name]; not a fan of [name]Frederick[/name] or [name]Darwin[/name].
