Our son is a week old and still nameless. We thought we’d have a few more weeks before his arrival, but he had other plans. With our 3 year old daughter, [name]Deirdre[/name], we went in with two girls’ names - one for first and one for middle and waited until we saw her before deciding the order. We never got around to deciding on a boy’s name. A friend sent us here, but just looking through the lists hasn’t helped much so we’re hoping someone else can help out. And we don’t have much free time available right now.
Our two favorite boy names - [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Duncan[/name] - are unusable for several reasons. They start with “D” and have 2 syllables and end with “N” which sounds weird with our last name [name]Morgan[/name] and [name]Declan[/name]'s too popular for our taste. We want to avoid “D” because of [name]Deirdre[/name]. (Husband’s family all have the same initial and we want to avoid sharing an initial.) We also want to avoid “L” and “T” for our first initials. Most of the “M” names we like don’t sound good with [name]Morgan[/name] - we’re not against M names, but haven’t liked the sound of any together. We both feel like his name is on the tips of our tongues, but can’t quite get there and as soon as we hear it, we’ll know it’s the one.
When we saw the little guy, [name]Ryan[/name] came to mind, but we knew it wasn’t right (and it’s way, way too popular and being used as a girl’s name.) We like [name]Pierce[/name] and [name]Rhett[/name], but they have no nicknames and are too short. (We need nicknames because according to [name]MIL[/name], we’re not very good at naming children. Yes, she acutally said that to my face, even knowing why we choose [name]Deirdre[/name]. She calls her DD.) [name]Kieran[/name] and [name]Kiernan[/name] were nixed because they sounds too much like [name]Deirdre[/name].
We love Irish, Scottish and Welsh, ancient Greek/[name]Roman[/name] and myth names, but will consider anything. We’re looking for an “old soul” name that sounds good with big sis’ name, nothing trendy, nothing unisex and preferably not in the top 500, (not in top 1000’s even better) but a name that’s familiar through history, literature or mythology. Middle name will be [name]Timothy[/name] or an international variation. Could anyone please, please help us with suggestions for this little guy’s name? Thank you!
