Little brother for James

I’m so stumped as to what to call baby #2, due in [name]June[/name]. We don’t know the sex yet, but assuming it’s a boy, what would be a good little brother name for [name]James[/name] [name]Martin[/name]? The middle name will be [name]Allen[/name] after my husband’s father ([name]Martin[/name] is mine!)

Our problem is, we have too many things we don’t want in a name!

  • no H names, as they sound awful with our last name
  • no P names as my husband and I are both Ps and poor [name]James[/name] would be left out!
  • would rather not have a J name
  • nothing “made up”
  • no obviously Irish names (this comes from my husband, he’s odd that way!)

Names I do like are [name]Noah[/name], [name]Euan[/name], [name]Lucas[/name], [name]Oliver[/name]
Names I like but are sadly out for various reasons: [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name]/[name]Nathan[/name], [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Henry[/name]

You all come up with such fabulous suggestions, I was hoping you could help

Thank-you! xox

[name]Hi[/name]! I love [name]James[/name] [name]Martin[/name]! So handsome!

A few more you may like:

[name]Charles[/name] [name]Allen[/name] (has [name]James[/name]’ ending, but I still think that [name]James[/name] and [name]Charles[/name] are handsome together)
[name]Edward[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Allen[/name] ([name]Everett[/name] reminds me of [name]Lucas[/name]’ feel)
[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]David[/name] [name]Allen[/name] (there’s an actor in the US named [name]David[/name] [name]Alan[/name] [name]Grier[/name], which may or may not be an issue for you…)

Good luck!

Thank-you, those are good ones! We do have an [name]Eddie[/name] in the house already - the cat! (What were we thinking giving the cat such a good name, anyway??) My brother is [name]David[/name] and I’d hate for him to be another version of him!

I really really like [name]Charles[/name], I think I need to run that past my husband

Any more?

[name]Hi[/name]! I love [name]Charles[/name] [name]Allen[/name] so much! I’m glad you like it!

Your cat is [name]Eddie[/name]? That’s so cute. I had to laugh about what you said about [name]David[/name]…I love your brother’s name, though.

A few more you may like with [name]James[/name] (such a great name!):

[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]George[/name] [name]Allen[/name] (Has the J sound, though…)
[name]Hugo[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Peter[/name] [name]Allen[/name] (Then again, he was a singer/songwriter…)
[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Allen[/name] (but not if you call [name]James[/name] “[name]Jim[/name],” because [name]Tim[/name] and [name]Jim[/name] rhyme…Plus, in the US, there’s an actor named [name]Tim[/name] [name]Allen[/name], which may or may not bother you…)
[name]Thomas[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Allen[/name] (nn [name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name], but [name]Teddy[/name] is probably too close to the cat’s name)

Good luck!

Names that would complement [name]James[/name]:
[name]Ian[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name]

[name]Collin[/name]
[name]Seth[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]William[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]

[name]David[/name]
[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Eli[/name] or [name]Elias[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name]

hope that helps!

Here are some suggestions that i hope you like! I tried to stay with the classic quality of [name]James[/name], and wheer i strayed its because the name is just so cute with [name]James[/name]! What is your nick name for [name]James[/name] so we can get the feeling of what they will be called everyday!

[name]James[/name] [name]Martin[/name] and:
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Miller[/name] [name]Allan[/name]
[name]Stewart[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Eaton[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name] [name]Allen[/name] - although it is a furniture store, not sure if that bugs you!
[name]Grier[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Allen[/name]
[name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Allen[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] this helps!

I love, love, love [name]Arthur[/name] and [name]George[/name]! [name]Do[/name] you think [name]James[/name] and [name]George[/name] are too first sound-matchy?

[name]James[/name] is just [name]James[/name], I’m not a fan of [name]Jim[/name] or [name]Jimmy[/name] and my husband insists that [name]Jamie[/name] is a girl’s name. Sometimes he’s Jamesey or Monkey-boy though

I love [name]Caleb[/name] - do you think it’s a bit “trendy” now, though? That’s my only real worry about it, I don’t mind if lots of kids have the same name, I just don’t want it to be something that’s only really used in one decade if you see what I mean!

I really like some of those and never really thought of them! I wonder if I could pull of a [name]Maxwell[/name]! [name]Max[/name] is such a great name  [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Sam[/name] and [name]Emmett[/name], too!

[name]James[/name] is just [name]James[/name], it fits him well, he’s always been such a manly little thing  Sometimes Jamesey, I guess!

Thanks everyone so much for such thoughtful replies! Now to drag my husband over to see what he thinks! (Poor guy is so sick of talking baby names!)

Sometimes he’s Jamesey or Monkey-boy though ;)[/quote]

[name]Hi[/name]! I love [name]Arthur[/name] and [name]George[/name], too. Because [name]George[/name] and [name]James[/name] have the same beginning sound, I unfortunately think they do sound a lot matchier together than [name]James[/name] and [name]Charles[/name] or [name]James[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name].

I really love [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name] with [name]James[/name], though, as well as a lot of the other suggestions from posters on this thread. I can’t wait to see what you choose!

Take care!

I really like [name]Noah[/name] [name]Allen[/name] from your list, I had that on my list too ([name]Noah[/name] [name]Alan[/name]) as [name]Alan[/name] is my grandfather’s name.

[name]Love[/name] [name]James[/name] so much!

On your list, I love [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. But [name]James[/name] and [name]Noah[/name] don’t really go together. But I think that’s okay.
I would suggest [name]Peter[/name], but no “P’s”.
[name]How[/name] about
[name]Andrew[/name] nn [name]Drew[/name]
[name]Charles[/name] - see comment under [name]William[/name].
[name]Edward[/name]
[name]Franklin[/name]
[name]George[/name]
[name]Lionel[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Reed[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]William[/name] - one of my top two choices with [name]James[/name], also I love [name]Charles[/name].

I forgot to post this, he is a she! An enthusiastically named [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Anne[/name]. She is our sunshine

Thanks for the help! We adore her, she is her brother’s favourite person
