Little brother & sister name to go with Christopher

Dear Berries,

I have a short list already but am wondering what other names you might come up with to go with our son [name]Christopher[/name], (his middle name is [name]John[/name] after my late father.)

Names we like so far:
[name]Grant[/name] - handsome, masculine and not too common…
[name]Owen[/name] - liking it more and more. Has an [name]Oxford[/name] feel to it…agree? any others that feel elegant like this?
[name]Matthew[/name] - have loved it since I was a kid but could be boring next to traditional [name]Christopher[/name]?
[name]Ryan[/name] - feels vintage cute next to [name]Christopher[/name] but fear it’s dated, trendy?
[name]Luke[/name]

[name]Love[/name] [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Jack[/name] and [name]Teddy[/name] but husband nixed. :frowning:

Girl is pretty much decided on…[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]…what do you think of [name]Christopher[/name] & [name]Caroline[/name] as a sibset? (oh i hope you like it as we are 99% decided!) But it still might be fun to hear others girl names to go w/ [name]Christopher[/name]. Chosen middle name is [name]Marie[/name] as it’s a family name for three generations.

I love [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Marie[/name] as a sister to [name]Christopher[/name].
For boys’ names, I really like [name]Luke[/name] with [name]Christopher[/name].

I like [name]Owen[/name] from your boys list - though for me it feels anything but elegent, I know a little ginger [name]Owen[/name] who may just be the opposite of elegant. But I like the name still  Also I think [name]Matthew[/name] doesn’t sound boring next to [name]Christopher[/name], they go nicely together. Other ideas: [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Todd[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Tristan[/name], [name]Kyle[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Matthias[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Samson[/name], [name]Saul[/name], [name]Kade[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Max[/name]? [name]Caroline[/name] is really really growing on me, I think it’s lovely with big brother [name]Christopher[/name] and the combo [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is darling  Some other ideas though: [name]Lauren[/name], [name]Laura[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Georgina[/name], [name]Natasha[/name], [name]Lillian[/name], [name]Nina[/name], [name]Millicent[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Samantha[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Nicola[/name], [name]Jemma[/name]?

Thanks to you both! I really need to crank out my top five with my husband who has nixed many of my names in the past. I’m due end of [name]July[/name]. I don’t want to wait too long before deciding as it can become very stressful.

I’m not worried about the girl name as we are pretty set on [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Marie[/name]…and thank you so much for your compliments and support with that choice. I was afraid it might too long of a name to pair with another 3 syllable name such as [name]Christopher[/name] but we’re just so in love with the sweetness of [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] together. And I love [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Molly[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] too, but DH does not. [name]Caroline[/name] we do agree on.

Boys just feel so much harder to me. I still like the following with a few additions:

[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Colin[/name]
[name]Seth[/name] (so-so on this)
[name]Christopher[/name] and…any storybook, maybe British names I’m leaving out that would sound cute with [name]Christopher[/name]?

Here’s the thing, I could go with [name]Alfred[/name] or something old fashioned like that but I don’t like [name]Al[/name] or [name]Ed[/name] for [name]Edwin[/name]. I like theo but DH won’t do it. [name]Owen[/name] feels kind of vintage and cute. My girlfriend named her 5 yr old and they live 3,000 miles away but I still asked her if I could use it and she said yes. There feels like a lot of [name]Luke[/name]'s where I live…Los [name]Angeles[/name].

I wish DH would agree on [name]Teddy[/name]. Ugh. So hard…

Our last name is Brehme. (brehME)

Oh and [name]Ryan[/name] is on my list but I’ve heard other posters say it’s too 80’s. Agree? Thought [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name] is cute together. ??

[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Miles[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Owen[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Luke[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Grant[/name]
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] (baby might be a [name]Leo[/name] so that might be too weird?)
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Dominick[/name] (husbands suggestion…)
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Austin[/name] (husband suggestion…)
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Logan[/name] (too trendy maybe)
[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Dylan[/name]

I think that [name]Ryan[/name] or [name]Owen[/name] sounds the best with [name]Christopher[/name].

I have a brother named [name]Christopher[/name] and a sister named [name]Caroline[/name]. I think they sound lovely together.

I really like [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Matthew[/name] with [name]Christopher[/name]. In fact, my brother was going to be [name]Matthew[/name] until my parents saw him and decided [name]Christopher[/name] was a better fit.

[name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name] are cute together, but it does have an 80’s vibe. If it doesn’t bother you, go for it.

And yes, [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Teddy[/name] would be adorable together. Would hubby go for [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Theo[/name] and you can call him [name]Teddy[/name]? Or [name]Edward[/name] nn [name]Ned[/name] and you call him [name]Teddy[/name]?

Storybook (mostly) Suggestions:

[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Charles[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] (with the nickname [name]Rhett[/name])
[name]Ferdinand[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Peter[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Timothy[/name]

[name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Christopher[/name] are gorgeous together.

From your list I like

[name]Grant[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Luke[/name]

Would you like

[name]Gregory[/name]
[name]Lachlan[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]James[/name]

rollo

I love [name]Miles[/name] as it is my son’s name
[name]Dominic[/name] is nice I think I like [name]Damian[/name] more
Not a fan of [name]Dylan[/name] and [name]Logan[/name]
[name]Alister[/name] is a handsome name.

Wow, thanks ladies! @ Redwoodfey, how funny you have a bro and sis, [name]Christopher[/name] & [name]Caroline[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it! I love most of your suggestions and appreciate them. [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Charles[/name] ([name]Charlie[/name]) but DH won’t go for it. He won’t go for [name]Nicholas[/name] or [name]Theo[/name] either. I need to get rid of him. LOL!

@[name]Rollo[/name]…thank you! I love your taste. [name]Just[/name] this morning DH brings up “[name]Van[/name]” and I said so you mean “[name]Donovan[/name]” and now he likes that name even more. I don’t think it goes with [name]Christopher[/name]. Let’s picture the little cottage in the Cotswolds or the storefront, [name]Janie[/name] & [name]Jack[/name]. There are two cute little [name]Oxford[/name] button outfits in the window…the first mannequin reads, “[name]Christopher[/name]”. And the 2nd one reads, “[name]Donovan[/name]” ??? No! LOL!!!

DH likes [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name] and is so so on [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Grant[/name]. I could probably talk him in to those, though. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Grant[/name] has a storybook feel with a modern edge? I’d love your opinion on [name]Grant[/name]… For me, it’s the process of elimination. Thank you both!!!

Quick question, how do you feel about [name]Grant[/name]? I’d love your opinion. For me, it’s been about the process of elimination. I’ve been stuck on [name]Grant[/name] lately. [name]Do[/name] you think it has a storybook feel with a modern edge to it?

[name]Grant[/name] is a terrific name I can’t understand why it hasn’t hit the top 20. I think it is a handsome name with lots of presence.

[name]Do[/name] you like the combo of [name]Grant[/name] [name]Lachlan[/name]?

rollo

I do. Althoughg we’re not Irish and [name]Lachlan[/name] sounds Irish to me. I do like it though. I also like [name]Grant[/name] [name]Owen[/name]… Or maybe as a compromise to hubby, [name]Grant[/name] [name]Donovan[/name]…

I agree. I can’t understand why it hasn’t grown more popular in recent years. But, I’m glad. I like how handsome it sounds and yet it’s still so fresh and original.

I think my favorites now from my previous list are [name]Grant[/name] and [name]Owen[/name].

I really, really appreciate the feedback!

[name]Grant[/name] [name]Lachlan[/name]…that combo really is beautiful and dashing! [name]Rollo[/name], you’ve done this a few times before, haven’t you?

[name]Ah[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name] is Scottish, yes. Reminds me of the Lochness…but not in a bad way. I’ve travelled all over [name]England[/name], [name]Wales[/name] and [name]Scotland[/name] and have always been fond of the beauty of the land and the names.

I think [name]Ryan[/name] is dated sounds 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, etc.
[name]Owen[/name] sounds Irish to me. not [name]Oxford[/name]. It’s also more popular if you care about that.
[name]Grant[/name] is gorgeous to me. [name]Ulysses[/name] S. [name]Grant[/name] the general who won the civil war.
It sounds great with [name]Christopher[/name].
maybe your husband’s father’s name as a middle …unless it’s [name]Christopher[/name]. Is there anyone else in the family you might want to honor? I think it would be nice for both boys to have a family connection maybe?
If not almost any name would work with [name]Grant[/name]. It’s a great name.

Now I’ve mentioned [name]Grant[/name] again last night to husband and he scoffed…oh boy, I’m really bummed. I don’t know if we’ll agree. It’s really disappointing because I have like around 10 names I’ve fallen for and he’s nixed them. I just don’t love every name there is or that he likes. It’s so frustrating… Perhaps I’ll liquor him up and then work on him… ”

I really like [name]Christopher[/name]!

[name]Just[/name] some suggestions for you (and your impossible husband  )

[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name]/[name]Quinten[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] -dated?
[name]Scott[/name]
[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]James[/name] -instead of [name]Jack[/name]?
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Dimitri[/name] - as an unexpected option?
[name]Gregory[/name]

WDYT?

I think I’m going to divorce my husband, LOL! I think I’m going to try to stick with my guns now on [name]Grant[/name] and just not talk to him again until he’s in an agreeable mood.

Phioxie, thanks so much for your compliments on [name]Christopher[/name]. It’s funny how common it used to be as a name and now that it is no longer popular, it feels kinda original all over again, especially in Los [name]Angeles[/name] and amongst so many alternative choices of this decade. LOL!

And thanks for your suggestions, although we are hard to please. Which again is why I feel like fighting for [name]Grant[/name]…

[name]Nicholas[/name] - I love…DH doesn’t like “[name]Nick[/name]”
[name]Quintin[/name] - no
[name]Andrew[/name] - cute but eh…
[name]Scott[/name] - dated a loser named [name]Scott[/name] although I do like the name
[name]Liam[/name] - way overused [name]IMO[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] - same as above
[name]Tobias[/name] - I call [name]Christopher[/name] “Tophie” so too similar
[name]James[/name] - love. But he’d be called [name]Jimmy[/name] probably. I’m trying to avoid a nickname name as I don’t like [name]Chris[/name] and yet I know his friends will call him [name]Chris[/name]…ah well. At least while he’s a toddler we have some say…
[name]Samuel[/name] - no
[name]Alexander[/name] - its ok.
[name]Arthur[/name] - best friends ex, bad association
[name]Jonathon[/name] - [name]Christopher[/name]'s middle is [name]John[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] - ok, I love [name]Benjamin[/name] but hate [name]Ben[/name]. I know people will call him [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Ben[/name] reminds me of a rat!
[name]Dimitri[/name] - sounds Russian to me
[name]Gregory[/name] - very nice but name of my ex fiancé so no…

See what I mean? We are difficult! :).
