Little Lady Eska

i came across Eska which is an Inuit name meaning a creek.
what were your first opinions on Eska?

nb: will keep this post alive and updated with any other ideas/combos for Eska.

I’ve never heard of it but it’s beautiful and I could definitely see a little girl playing in the woods, a faerie-esque name.

I think it’s lovely. Perhaps a little nickname-y, though that’s definitely not necessarily a negative! I know a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] nn Chesca, so I can easily see a [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] nn Eska/Esca.

I do like it as is though:
Eska [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

It sounds quite lovely! It’s reminiscent of [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Elke[/name_f] but definitely very distinctive.

It sounds pretty, but not going to lie, I did think about Eskimo when I heard it lol.

I love it! It sounds beautiful & lovely meaning. It is also not too far fetched either.

I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and one of the most popular names of water bottles is Eska, so that’s all I can think of when I hear that name.

I like it!

I love it ! It’s magical and beautiful

I have never heard of it before! I can’t say it’s something that wows me but its certainly unique. It does remind me of esky or eskimo.

@alchemicallypurplefairy: the resemblance between [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and Eska without the attachment of Frozen but still a naturey feel!

@maerad: oooh!! thanks for combos! i quite like Eska [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]

i don’t overly mind Esky and Eskimo as i think it could pose for some cute pet names. what are your thoughts on these or do you have anything similar:
Eska Sunday
Eska Thessaly
Eska Eulalie
Eska Leland

Eska is really lovely and also reminds me of names like [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] (without being similar enough to be confused for it imo) which make it all the more usable.

Eska [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] is my favourite from your list: it feels really bright, and idyllic. Followed my Eska [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]. The flow for Eska [name_u]Leland[/name_u] is a tad choppy for me, and I think that Eska [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f] is very “S” heavy.

I would just like to draw your attention to “eskimo” being deemed offensive to some, as you mentioned agreeing to Eska’s likeness to the word and planning to use it as a nickname. I don’t know lots about the topic myself, but from looking online again, just before writing this, it appears to be: a dividing topic, offensive to some who are called it depending on region, and especially offensive in [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] and [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] thought you may want to consider and possibly look further in to this.

Overall, i think Eska is beautiful, and I especially love Eska [name_f]Sunday[/name_f]

@ceruleanstardust: oh wow! i did not know this! i was just thinking of eskimo kisses and how sweet it is! i will definitely look into! i agree with your rankings but wasn’t sure how the double starting ‘E’ would sound/look

I know of a real-life Eska who’s named in honour of am English river - I think it’s really nice.

I like it! I think I prefer [name_f]Elva[/name_f] or [name_f]Elke[/name_f], but I definitely like it!

I think it’s pretty. Eska [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] is stunning.

You may also like Iskra (a Slavic name meaning “spark”) and Eriska (the name of a Scottish island).

@artemisathena0107: i quite like [name_f]Elva[/name_f] can’t remember hearing that one before!!

@choupette: Iskra is lovely!! where did you come across that one? i’m glad you like Eska [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] as i was worried with the double ‘E’ beginnings! definitely can’t decide between Eska [name_f]Sunday[/name_f] and Eska [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]

I quite like Eska, it sounds fresh and spunky.

Eska [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Lisanne[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Maria[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Jonna[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Marisol[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
Eska [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]

I like it. It has a sweet but slightly mysterious vibe.

Very cute !
