[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering if you have met any little ones carrying your own name recently. I have met plenty of Melissas my age (which makes sense because trends come and go), but I have yet to meet a little one with the name [name_f]Melissa[/name_f].
My name is [name_f]Jazmine[/name_f]. I’ve always met plenty of girls younger than me with my name but they’re of different race and ethnicity than me so I still feel unique.
My name is [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]. When I was born it wasn’t even in the top 200, 7 years ago it was number 1 in my state so there are so so many little Jasmines. Drives me crazy!
I don’t meet a lot of little kids, but my name, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], is top 10 here (UK) so I am sure there are lots! Its variant, [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], is number one in the US too I think so I am sure there are many over there too. One baby I know has a similar name - [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]-[name_f]Lily[/name_f]. I have always hated having a popular name, probably why I like unusual names so much!
My name is much more popular with little ones than it is for my generation. After always being the only [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], I now hear moms yelling my name in the supermarket. Very strange.
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]'s been epidemically popular since the 90’s when I was born, so I know/know of a fair few my age - however, I think it’s even more commonplace on younger girls. My little sister has a ton of friends called [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and I have a lot of friends who have little siblings/cousins/nieces called [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
I don’t mind too much, although I’d prefer for my own children to have a slightly more unusual name.
Not recently, but when I taught pre-k a few years ago there was a student in the other teacher’s class whose name was spelled like mine. She went by [name_f]Katy[/name_f], which is also the nickname I use when I use one.
I met a little [name_u]Angel[/name_u] recently. It was in [name_m]Mcdonald[/name_m]'s. She was pretty with curly blond hair and her sisters name was [name_f]Lotus[/name_f].
I’ve met an [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f], rather than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], since the version with S is the most common in Denmark, funny enough she was looking more shocked about this, than I was… She’s no more than 3 years old.
I have actually never met another [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] (or even an [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]…or any other variant with the nickname [name_f]Aggie[/name_f]) in my entire life - young or old. I’d [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] to meet a little [name_f]Agatha[/name_f]! I’ve gone by [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] almost exclusively my entire life - and I’ve always loved both my formal and my nickname!
I’ve known plenty of [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s in my age group but no one with my spelling, [name_f]Chelsie[/name_f]. I absolutely love my non-traditional spelling. No one spells it right but no one mispronounces it. I think it looks much better than [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] but I have a lifetime of bias!
There was a little one with my name that I saw where I work. A mother called out, “[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]!” and I turned around. She is the only tiny [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] I have ever met.
My name was super out there when I was little, surrounded by [name_u]Abby[/name_u]'s, [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]'s, [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]'s and [name_f]Carly[/name_f]'s… People would even struggle to pronounce and spell it haha. Nowadays my first, [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], and middle, [name_f]Eve[/name_f], are heaps popular! There are around 4 [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]'s I know under 7 and 3 [name_f]Eve[/name_f] variants. Funny how times change
I knew another [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] at primary school in the late 1980s. I didn’t meet any in high school or university, but since then I’ve met two Naomis, both of whom were born in the early 1970s.
I’m yet to meet a new-gen [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. I’m expecting I will teach one or two in the coming years as the name is about number 80 on the US popularity list. It’s strange to think of my name coming back into fashion after all this time.
Has anyone here met a baby/toddler/child [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] recently?
I’ve only met one other [name_f]Jemima[/name_f] in my whole life! She was about 10. Her mother was really excited!
Other than that, I know no Jemimas of any age. I love being the only one!
