[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! Our 3 year old dd is named [name_f]Jaycie[/name_f] (not my style but it was one of the very few we agreed on). Thinking of naming dd #2 my favorite name - [name_u]Josie[/name_u] but making it a double name, [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. Again, one of the few names we agree on. I’ve never seen [name_u]Josie[/name_u] as a double name…?
[name_f]Jaycie[/name_f] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] are way too similar imo
Agree with pp - they are extremely similar
Thanks for the reply! I do think they are too similar by themselves. But I intend on [name_u]Josie[/name_u] being “[name_u]Josie[/name_u]-[name_u]Leigh[/name_u]” not just [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. ?
I would use [name_u]Josie[/name_u] as a nickname for a name that isn’t practically the same name as her sister’s, like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Joceline[/name_f].
They are the same name. Adding [name_u]Lee[/name_u]/ [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] at the end of it doesn’t change that.
My brother’s name differs from mine by a single vowel sound. (We were one year apart in age and they chose a name they liked for me and named him after a relative who died shortly before his birth.) We were only one year apart in school, and it was really not a problem.
To me [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] are a different style than your older daughter’s name, so even though both are girls, I wouldn’t think people would get confused.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] if it was [name_u]Josie[/name_u]-[name_u]Leigh[/name_u], I still think it’s too similar to [name_u]Jacie[/name_u]. I like a previous poster’s idea of using something like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] instead.
Some ideas:
[name_f]Joanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Annie[/name_f]
[name_f]Roxy[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
Haddie
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmy[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f]
[name_f]Edie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
What about [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] as an option? One of the only other J names we can agree on. We (my husband and I) have TOTALLY different name styles. I love old preppy names- [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]… he hates those names:( [name_u]Joey[/name_u] is ok to me and I like it even more with [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]? [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is my middle name:) [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] ? Too boyish?
I prefer [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] to [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. However it seems quite masculine, would you consider using [name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] instead? Or [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_f]Leighanne[/name_f]? If you don’t mind the spelling being a bit different, [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_f]Liana[/name_f] and [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] could be cute ways to honor your middle name too.
What about [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] ? Or is that too [name_f]Angalina[/name_f] ? I think [name_f]Jaycie[/name_f] and [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] sound cute together. Good luck.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f]!!! I wanted to name our first daughter that. I also love [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] so I wouldn’t care about that. My husband said it reminded him of “[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]” which has a bad reputation from [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]’s song:slight_smile:”” So he exed that name.
I haven’t thought of [name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]! I will run that one by my dh!
What about:
[name_f]Joelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Julie[/name_u]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Jewel[/name_f]
[name_f]Joella[/name_f]
[name_f]Joetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Joceline[/name_f]
[name_f]Josette[/name_f]
[name_f]Julienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Junia[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Jovie[/name_f] would be perfect; it’s not too similar to [name_f]Jaycie[/name_f] and encompasses the sounds and style you seem to be able to agree on.
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f] is CUTE! Never heard that name before!
I really like the suggestion for [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] for you. You could do [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. [name_f]Josette[/name_f] and [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] are great suggestions too.
[name_u]Jaycee[/name_u] and [name_u]Josie[/name_u] are way to similar. If you think about how kids will refer to her throughout her life, she will end up just “[name_u]Josie[/name_u]” on the playground… Please… Think of your daughters.
Maybe ~
[name_f]Juni[/name_f]
[name_f]Journey[/name_f]
[name_f]Jubilee[/name_f]
Good luck
thanks so much for so many beautiful suggestions! There’s so many pretty names I’ve never thought of. We are still leaning toward [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] now vs [name_u]Josie[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]. I think of a tomboyish little girl running around in the country with her sister and that fits us! Can I get some opinions on [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]? Thank you all so much!!! We also agree on [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Janey[/name_f] (me not so much), and [name_u]Jean[/name_u] is a recently deceased grandmother’s name I would love to use but NOT for a first name.
