Hi All! Expecting a little girl after several sons. We have our boy name formula nailed down but our taste in more feminine names is all over the map. Sharing the brother names below and a bunch of girls names I’m pondering. Open to all recs and suggestions, or help defining a style for girls! I like Estelle, Theodora, or Natalia with your sons’ names. Those would all go really well, and they’re just great names too.

My own faves of your list are:

Eilish
Cosima (Cosy would be a cute nn!)
Pia
Oona
Theodora
Reina

With the boys, it seems like you should go for something bold, international &/or Hebrew/biblical - this is how I see your style. For me, it would be Reina, Estelle, Cosima, Pia & Theodora going from this list.

Marigold has the strong letters and would be the next of the list - but I see it and Oona as too vintage hip & cutesy compared the boys’. Theodora is almost in this category but I think it just about stays in the international camp too. I really like Eilish, and it has the Hebrew connection, but it just doesn’t quite fit with the boys imo.

Of the rest, Natalia/Natalie, and possibly Leila could also work (though Leila will very likely get lost with all the L names so it would be low on the list, the same reason why I’d only choose Estelle if it’s a definite first - if there are others, I would avoid a L/Elle name). I also don’t love the nicknames for Natalie/Natalia so it is not a top choice for me.

Lucia is pretty seems a little meek and storybook-like compared to the boys, Simone too close to Samuel and too boy’ish (think she should have a girly-girl name given she’s the only girl), Tiphaine is interesting but sounds “too vain” and is very intense, I think.

As for the ‘L’ names, do you mean the ‘L’ sounds in our boys names (as in [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and Mikhael)? [name_m]Or[/name_m] the popularity of ‘elle’ sounds in popular girls names these days?

I’d opt for the Lou-see-a pronunciation :slight_smile: was lovely to see Rebecca and Margaret suggested, and I’m a Rebecca and Margaret is a name in both my and my husband’s family trees.

I mean just how many two syllable L names have been popular for girls over the last 5-10 years - esp Layla, Lily, Lola, Luna - and then all the Elle/Belle names - Ella, Elsie, Stella, Estelle, Isabel, Arabella etc. Lucia is probably less obviously part of the trend but I know a fair few little Lucy’s. This shouldn’t be a massive factor if you love the name - as most chosen names follow a trend - but just something to consider.
