Little Women names!

I’m new to Nameberry & I love names. I thought I would start off my first post by sharing names that have to do with my all time favorite book & movie, [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women (1994 version). [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to share your opinions of the names or add names!

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Meg[/name_f] - The oldest daughter is named [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] & everyone calls her [name_f]Meg[/name_f] (other than Aunt [name_u]March[/name_u] who calls her [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]). A cool fact is that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is the name of Marmee, who is the mother in the movie/book.
Abigail - In the movie, Aunt March calls Marmee the name Abigail in the scene where Meg is getting ready to leave for a party. I think this is an beautiful, timeless name.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jo[/name_u] - [name_u]Jo[/name_u] is the character that the movie/book is centered around & the second oldest daughter. She was a tomboy & loved to write.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Beth[/name_f] - Most people know her as the character who dies in the movie/book. She was the third daughter. She was shy & reserved & she preferred staying at home. She was always my favorite in the movie & I love the nickname [name_f]Beth[/name_f].
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] - The youngest daughter is [name_f]Amy[/name_f], who was obsessed with perfecting her nose, finding a rich guy, & “limes” which I guess was money, but I never really picked up on what they were in the movie.
[name_f]Winona[/name_f] - [name_f]Winona[/name_f] [name_m]Ryder[/name_m] played [name_u]Jo[/name_u] in the movie.
[name_u]Laurie[/name_u] - [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Lawerence[/name_m] is the known as [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] in the movie. I think [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] is would be a great girl nickname for a little girl named [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] or [name_f]Laura[/name_f].
[name_f]Trini[/name_f] - [name_f]Trini[/name_f] Alvarado is the name of the actress who plays [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. I think this is a unique name & it’s very beautiful in my opinion.
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] - [name_f]Claire[/name_f] Danes is the actress who plays [name_f]Beth[/name_f]. [name_f]Claire[/name_f] has always been a favorite name of mine & I love the spelling of her name.
[name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] - [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] Dunst plays young [name_f]Amy[/name_f] in the movie. I have always loved the name [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]. It’s similar to [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], but it just has a twist on the name with the “r” & “i” being switched.
[name_f]Samantha[/name_f] - [name_f]Samantha[/name_f] [name_m]Mathis[/name_m] plays [name_f]Amy[/name_f] when she’s older.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - This is the name of [name_f]Meg[/name_f]'s baby, who happens to be a twin. This happens to be a diminutive of Margaret so the fact that they named the baby Daisy probably isn’t a coincidence. I love the name [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] & I think it’s a very sweet name. It’s probably my favorite flower name.
[name_f]Demi[/name_f] - This is the second twin, who happens to be a boy. The name reminds me of [name_f]Demi[/name_f] Lovato so I think this could be used on a girl, as well as a boy.
Hannah - This is actually the name of the housekeeper. I have a love/hate relationship with this name.
[name_u]Josie[/name_u] - [name_u]Jo[/name_u] has a baby in a sequel I’m pretty sure, or at least what I’ve seen from a [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women wiki page. She names her [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] & uses the nickname [name_u]Josie[/name_u].
[name_f]Bess[/name_f] - The last name on my list is [name_f]Bess[/name_f]. This was a name find on the [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women wiki page. [name_f]Amy[/name_f] & [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Lawerence[/name_m]/[name_u]Laurie[/name_u]/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] get married & they end up having a daughter who they name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], which is after [name_f]Beth[/name_f]. They end up calling her [name_f]Bess[/name_f]. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the name [name_f]Bess[/name_f], but I think it’s a great nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] other than the popular nicknames ([name_f]Liz[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]).

And don’t forget names for the lovely author!
[name_m]Louisa[/name_m] [name_f]May[/name_f] [name_u]Alcott[/name_u]
All three would make great names for a girl and [name_u]Alcott[/name_u] is a great gender neutral option.

katymwolff, you’re totally right! Somehow I forgot her name.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] this!!! My favorite movie is the 90s version of [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women and it is my favorite book to!
I could totally see myself naming a boy [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] one day and calling him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].
For a girl perhaps the name [name_u]March[/name_u] as a first or middle name could work to.
Now the sequel [name_m]Little[/name_m] Men (I have only ever read the book so I have never seen the TV show) you could get the name [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] or [name_m]Nathan[/name_m]. In the book he goes by [name_u]Nat[/name_u] so there is a nickname option. I also love [name_m]Emil[/name_m] to from the books. Of course there are more but those are my favorite
