What do you think of [name_f]Liv[/name_f]?
Would you use [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or would you go with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Liv[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Livvy[/name_f] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f], but I’ve never been one to use the super popular names so I don’t know if I would use [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. But then again, [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] seems better on a birth certificate and other formal documents
[name_f]Liv[/name_f] is pronounced ‘‘leev’’ as a stand alone name. To me it’s along the lines of [name_f]Olive[/name_f]/[name_f]Livia[/name_f] in terms of the ‘‘blatantly avoid [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]’’ gene of names. Which is all well and good but if you’re debating putting [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] on the BC then why not commit to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f]?
I’m an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f] myself btw and can vouch that I do really love both names
I love both [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] & [name_f]Liv[/name_f], although I actually have [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f] on my list - perhaps you like that option?
I grew up in an area with a lot of Scandinavians and had a classmate named [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. (Pronounced Leev). It was’t a strange name for that area, but she hated it. As soon as she was an adult, she changed her name to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f].
I’m a big nickname person, but I’m also one to always go for the long, formal name one the birth certificate – it gives your child options as she grows into an adult.
I’ve always really loved the name [name_f]Liv[/name_f] (i.e. [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]). However, if you [name_f]DO[/name_f] like the name [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], I think [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is a stunning nickname, and at least that way, she would have the option when she gets older to use [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] on formal documents. That being said, [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is a name that I think can stand alone quite nicely!
I prefer [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f] myself, but I know a couple who named their daughter [name_f]Liv[/name_f], so it is really fine either way.
If you don’t want to use [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Olivine[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivette[/name_f] would work? Or [name_f]Elisavet[/name_f] (this would be kind of a stretch, though)?
I like pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] as well.
I adore [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Livy[/name_f]/[name_f]Livvy[/name_f]. I also pronounce it lihv as opposed to leev. I also like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_f]Livia[/name_f]. I don’t think of [name_f]Liv[/name_f] or [name_f]Livia[/name_f] as a ‘poor man’s’ [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], as they are all three names in their own right with different origins. I think [name_f]Liv[/name_f] works equally well as a standalone and a nickname.
I would go with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], nickname [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. If you want something less popular, the suggestion of [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] would be a good name to use.
I truly like both. I do think that [name_f]Liv[/name_f] can stand on it’s own just fine (and if you live in the US It will most definitely be pronounced “live” like [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] so I wouldn’t worry about pronunciation). I’m a big advocate of not choosing a “full name” you don’t love just because you think that you need to/have to.
I think [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is nice alone. We considered it if this baby had been a girl, and I would have a liked the full name to be [name_f]Livia[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Liv[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is nice, but rather overused. [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is sweet and minimalistic, and perfectly acceptable on the birth certificate. If you’re still hesitant, you may like Olivie, [name_f]Olivine[/name_f], [name_f]Elisavet[/name_f], or Ellisiv.
