I already had a soft spot for [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] and the little boy with the goggles just made me like the name even more. My vote goes to [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] Archimedes.

I picked [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] Archimedes and [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] Archimedes because I love both [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] a lot.

I know from reading your other forum posts that [name_u]Loki[/name_u] would have a lot of religious significance for your husband, but [name_u]Loki[/name_u] is also now a very pop culturally loaded name. He’s a beloved character in the [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] Cinematic Universe (MCU), but he also does a great number of despicable things. He’s a wonderfully complicated character, but it might be awkward for a kid to sit down and watch a movie or open a comic book when he’s ten and find that he shares his name with major supervillain. You’ve probably already considered this, but I’m just putting this out there in case you hadn’t.

We actually already know a little boy named [name_u]Loki[/name_u] in my grandmothers church community. He gets some problems, I’ll admit.

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] does have a lot of religious significance to my husband. [name_u]Cody[/name_u] worships [name_u]Loki[/name_u]. [name_u]Loki[/name_u] does a lot of terrible things in [name_f]Marvel[/name_f], yes, and in the myths too, but he’s also the only one who ever seems to know how to fix problems. He gets all the gods of of trouble multiple times even when he’s not the one that put them there. He got [name_m]Thor[/name_m]'s hammer back for him, he got the wall built around Asgard… anyway, yes he does bad things but he also does good things. Lots of other gods people like to use as names do bad things (all the major gods do bad things. And people like [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] just fine). So anyway, I do appreciate the warning, but since we took [name_u]Loki[/name_u] off the first name list, we’ve had so many weird, random, and just plain chaotic things happen. Since we put it back on, it’s all stopped and life has gotten calm again (not to mention that we’ve found a total of almost $20 in pants pockets and on the ground since then :P)

So, we’re keeping it despite the issues. Other little boys manage with the names of not so great people, we’ll make it work (and if it gets terrible, he’ll have 2 middles :P)

I’m loving [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] Archimedes. As for the [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] reference, I think [name_m]Tom[/name_m] Hiddleston actually made the name feel usable… but maybe that’s just me.

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] rocks! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t ever doubt that name.

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] Archimedes is my favourite. I’d love to see [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] in there, although it all the sudden felt very Sandman heavy, because [name_u]Dream[/name_u] was called [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m], and [name_u]Loki[/name_u] features in the series too. I’m not fond of [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] in there though, which is very odd because I love [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m]! The tree is amazing and it just looks so delicious and warm. Maybe that’s it. Cold - cold - warm. It messes with my brain. Could we* do [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Virgil[/name_m]? [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]? [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Remiel (muahaha!!!), [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] (muahaha again), [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]. Okay, I got hung up in the dreams here, but [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is cool. Stopping the Sandman names now. [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Theoden. [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m].

*Am I too invested in your naming journey?

Was not very nice, right?

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u], please read my previous comment about [name_u]Loki[/name_u] further up the thread.

[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], no it’s fine! I do the same things with your names :stuck_out_tongue: I agree that [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] is not too cohesive, but that’s all we had at the moment. Cody and I also get warmth from Morpheus so I guess that’s why warm Hawthorn feels fine right there. :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to throw some other suggestions at us  I’ve actually never read Sandman despite how much I love Gaiman so those are all lost on me >.< I need to get around to it.

Thanks for all the comments so far

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] Archimedes is the one that jumped out at me immediately.

That’s very interesting to know about [name_u]Loki[/name_u], Dantea. I’m much more familiar with the Greek myths, but now I want to read more of the Norse myths. All of your combinations are very beautiful, and if your life feels calmer with [name_u]Loki[/name_u] on your list, then he sounds like a keeper.

No idea why, but I just love the sound of [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_u]Constantine[/name_u].

I’m with otter on this one - [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Virgil[/name_m] Archimedes is amazing! It has every aspect I love in a name combo.

Well, The Sandman comics are fantastic! I love them. The main figures is a family of seven; [name_u]Dream[/name_u], [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], Desire, Delirium, Destruction, Despair and Death (my favourite, she’s my ink twin. It’s heartbreaking that I can’t name a child this; Tinuviel [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] Death? ;)). In the beginning [name_u]Dream[/name_u] was known as [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m]. This is Dream.

I don’t get iciness from [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m], I was more speaking in the term of colours. [name_u]Loki[/name_u]'s whites and those pale velvety blues, [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] is more seablue with starshine in it. [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] is orange and brown. To me, that is.

Some combos that might work:
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Alban[/name_m] - the word used by Druids for the solstices.
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Alder - the tree that allows passage into the world of the fairies.

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Yew - the sacred tree of eternal life and rebirth.

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Elros - son of Eärendil and Elwing, brother of Elrond who chose a mortal life and became king of Numenor, forefather of Aragorn. Means “star spray”.
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Finwë - the first High [name_m]King[/name_m] of Noldor. One of the supreme being Iluvatar’s first children.
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Ol[/name_m]órin - Before the [name_f]Maia[/name_f] Gandalf left Valinor, he was called [name_m]Ol[/name_m]órin. It means “dream”.
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Ori[/name_u] - one of [name_m]Thorin[/name_m]'s companions in The Hobbit. In Tolkien’s world it means “violent”, but it’s also a Hebrew name meaning “light”.

[name_m]Ah[/name_m] ok. That picture is cool! For [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] I get the dark blue and dark purple so yep, still different :stuck_out_tongue: [name_u]Loki[/name_u] is pretty hot (yea, not even warm) to me. He’s like dark red, fiery orange. [name_m]Hawthorn[/name_m] is also orange and brown for me and like a light red.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] it when you take the time to make combos for me  You know what I like :stuck_out_tongue:

From your combos, I like:

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Alder
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Ash[/name_u] – [name_u]Cody[/name_u] will love this! He loves [name_u]Ash[/name_u] names in general. On a side note, he’d use Acheron in an instant (it’s ack-er-on, but it fit here :P)
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Bard[/name_m] – I love [name_m]Bard[/name_m] a lot because I love bards. And [name_m]Bard[/name_m] the [name_m]Bowman[/name_m] from The Hobbit ^^
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u] – Since to me [name_u]Loki[/name_u] and [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] are warm to me, [name_u]Frost[/name_u] really cools it down and it’s great
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Gwyn[/name_u]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Hunt[/name_m] – I love that! Maybe [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] for The [name_m]Wild[/name_m] [name_m]Hunt[/name_m], [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] Wilde, and because [name_u]Loki[/name_u] is [name_m]Wild[/name_m] :stuck_out_tongue:
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Ivo[/name_m]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] Rook – and also the chess piece. That’s what [name_u]Cody[/name_u] likes about Rook
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] – I never thought I’d like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] until you started putting it in combos for me >.<
Loki Morpheus Star – ^
^
Loki Morpheus Vervain
Loki Morpheus Wolf
Loki Morpheus Yew – I love the Yew. We seem to have a tree thing going on, don’t we :stuck_out_tongue:
Loki Morpheus Elros – I love the meaning. Do you think it’s too rhymey?
Loki Morpheus Olórin – I love this!

So [name_u]Cody[/name_u] likes:

[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Bard[/name_m]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Frost[/name_u]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_u]Gwyn[/name_u]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_f]Star[/name_f]
[name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_m]Ol[/name_m]órin

Yay, I’m glad you liked so many, and glad [name_u]Cody[/name_u] liked so many too! I think [name_u]Loki[/name_u] [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] [name_f]Star[/name_f] is spectacular, I love the connection to you. And I think all the others are cool as well, I would throw my vote for [name_m]Bard[/name_m] I think. [name_m]Bard[/name_m] is also a Norwegian name (although spelled Bård), it means “battle protection” or “battle peace/peace after battle”.
