Lively?

What do you think of the name Lively?

Nicknames? (I first think of [name_f]Liv[/name_f])

We just discovered it today! I love its obvious meaning, “full of life”, and I think it sounds great with our daughter, [name_u]Piper[/name_u].

Middle name will be [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

I love the word Lively, so I think it would be a lovely name. Hypothetically. I’d surely love to have a friend named Lively.

I’m not so sure I’d want to be named it though. Maybe a middle? It is a lot to live up to.

I think Lively is a beautiful choice, and I agree with you, it sounds perfect with big sister [name_u]Piper[/name_u]! Lively [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is stunning

I’m sorry but I cannot picture it as a name. Maybe use a name that means lively.

For me it’s a too commonly used word to be a name. I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], which has a similar meaning, but isn’t a word used often these days. Lively though… I feel like every time she’s less than energetic and cheery and the life of the party she will comments about her mood and her name from people who think they’re funny… it would drive me insane.

Lively is too wordy for me to consider it a name.

I have never seen anyone named Lively and I actually love it.

Girls are named [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] so why not? I never hear anyone say Lively anyways.

Lively and [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

I love Lively! I think it has such a pretty sound and I love that both Lively and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] would have a long “I” sound in their names.

I think Lively could make a great name! It has a pretty sound, and a great meaning. I also think it goes well with [name_u]Piper[/name_u]!
It’s not a name I’d personally use (maybe as a middle), but I’d definitely love to meet one. I also agree with a pp that I’d want to be friends with a Lively!

I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f], but just cannot get behind Lively as a first name. I think the teasing and comments would get annoying really quickly… “Oh, Lively, you aren’t looking very lively today,” etc.

I saw it used on someone’s blog, I think the baby was Lively [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], if I remember right!

I like it in theory, but I’m not sure how it might work on a middle aged woman, or a sullen teenager, so I’m not 100% it would work well in real life.

I’m not sure how I feel about Lively… I adore [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and I think it goes great with [name_u]Piper[/name_u] - another bright, lively, energetic name. (Same goes with [name_u]Scout[/name_u]!) I’m just not sure about Lively as the given name. It might grow on me though because I really like similar names like [name_u]Blakely[/name_u], Aniston, [name_u]Hartley[/name_u], etc.

I think lively would be a really sweet name

However initially I did read this as my lively child [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. It does sound like you’re describing them.

If you love the name though go for it. I went to school with a girl called Safari as in ‘safari park’. Nobody ever questioned her name or thought it was weird !!

As much as I love Lively, I just don’t see it as a first name.

I think Lively is usable! (Depending on where you live, it could be used pretty commonly as a word, though.) I know from personal experience that people think they’re hilarious to make puns off of the most common of word names. [name_f]Every[/name_f] girl I know named [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has had to deal with people doing so. But people do the same thing to any name that sounds like it just might maybe have a sort-of word in it. It all depends on how annoyed you’d get. I like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and Lively as sisters!

Lively immediately brings to mind [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively, which isn’t a bad association at all (in my opinion). I think Lively could work.

I’m not a fan of this word as a name. I also think it clashes with [name_u]Piper[/name_u]. Sorry!

I think it’s just lovely! A nice meaning, and a very bright, bouncy sound.

However, it does make choosing a middle name pretty difficult… Lively [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sounds very descriptive. And I’m not really sure what you could use in the middle spot that would lessen the effect.

On a similar note, I really love [name_f]Merrily[/name_f] as a name, which would maybe be a bit less of an issue in that department?

I wish I would’ve read this thread a while ago! I don’t know if you ended up going with Lively, but I actually named my daughter Lively back in [name_f]May[/name_f]! I hope you went with it! It’s such a beautiful name ”
