Lochlann

We are a blended family with four boys - [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_m]Zachary[/name_m], & [name_m]Desmond[/name_m]. What do you think of [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m] “[name_u]Loki[/name_u]” for a future boy?

I adore [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] (personally prefer this spelling). It’s too close to my son’s name or I would have it on my short list for first names. I think it works well with your boys’ names, especially [name_m]Desmond[/name_m].

I’m not a fan [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m], it’s not my style, but works well with your boys’ names.

I prefer the [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] spelling as pp mentioned, but [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m] works too and I think it fits very well. [name_u]Loki[/name_u] is a fun and distinctive nickname choice too

I love [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], this spelling. [name_m]Lachlann[/name_m] looks like a feminization of the name so seeing it in print I would think that perhaps [name_m]Lachlann[/name_m] is female as I know someone who named their daughter [name_f]Ryann[/name_f].

I like it and it would be on my list if it weren’t as close of a family surname. We spell it as [name_m]Loughlin[/name_m] which is what I’m accustomed to at this point. For you, I would say maybe stick with just the one N, but I think it goes just fine with your other boys. [name_u]Loki[/name_u] is creative and cute. I did also go to school with a [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], his fn, and he was kind of quirky kid who carried it fine.

I only prefer the spelling [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m] (Irish) over [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] (Scottish) because of the nickname [name_u]Loki[/name_u]. I feel like [name_u]Loki[/name_u] doesn’t make sense as a nickname for the spelling [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].

I personally think you could still use [name_u]Loki[/name_u] with the [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] spelling, since the sound is there! That said, what about [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] instead of [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m]? It looks less feminine and made up and it has the “o” instead of the “a”. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] sounding name and nickname [name_u]Loki[/name_u] is adorable.

As mentioned by others I also prefer the [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] spelling and thinks this name blends in really well with the other boys’ names! A great fit!

I strongly prefer the spelling “[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]” but it’s a good name and would work pretty well.

I agree with the others regarding the spelling, [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] is better and more traditional. It’s not just about aesthetics, but also about not burdening your child with a name that will be misspelled his whole life. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] all the paperwork mistakes he will have to spend his precious time correcting if his name is [name_m]Lochlann[/name_m].

People are also using [name_u]Loki[/name_u] as a standalone name these days.
