What comes to mind when you picture a [name]Lola[/name]? I think it’s adorable on a baby or little girl- I can totally picture a little redhead tomboy named [name]Lola[/name]! But what about an adult? I just can’t picture an older, smart, successfull woman named [name]Lola[/name]! Can you? I love the vintage cute feel and I think it fits with our other boys and girls names ([name]Liam[/name], [name]Callen[/name], [name]Merrick[/name], [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Rhett[/name], Macoy, [name]Cora[/name] and ivy).
What do you think of the name, and how do you picture a little miss [name]Lola[/name]?
The only [name]Lola[/name] I’ve ever know was my creative writing teacher’s dog. She was a really cute dog, though! Sorry. Maybe you could use [name]Lola[/name] as a nickname for something. I’ve known a [name]Laura[/name] who was called Lo for short. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, but I’m sure other berries will have suggestions.
Okay, so [name]Lola[/name] is usually a nickname for [name]Dolores[/name]. Not my fave. [name]Madonna[/name]'s daughter [name]Lourdes[/name] is also apparently called [name]Lola[/name] for short. I always thought [name]Lourdes[/name] was a really interesting name, but I don’t know if it’s too associated with her that anyone who used it would hear “oh, like [name]Madonna[/name]'s kid” a billion times a day.
So my best mate had a little girl [name]Lola[/name] 6 weeks ago. A girl after 2 boys. From all accounts she is a sweet, placid, cuddly little girl. But she’s only 6 weeks! My friend has definitely had a mixed response to the name. I think it has a pretty sound - and I am calling her Lollipop :). What I truly dislike about the name is its meaning - “lady of sorrows” - I think that is terrible! No one has referred to the [name]Madonna[/name]'s kid link but a lot have linked it to [name]Lolita[/name] - which my friend hates. Oh and she’s a [name]Lola[/name] [name]Rose[/name] which I think is doubly cute.
Sorry I don’t think that helped! But a pretty name with a terrible meaning!
[name]Lola[/name] is nice name, but read somewhere that [name]Lola[/name] is strongly perceived as prostitute name and it’s strongly linked to [name]Lolita[/name].
my nn is [name]Lola[/name] and I love it. Most people view it as a prostitute type name, but I find it to be adorable, fun, and spunky. A girl who loves make-up and pretty dresses, but also loves climbing trees and playing football with the boys. I do think it works better as a nickname than a full name though.
My grandmother is a [name]Lola[/name]. In her younger days, she was blonde, very country, and traditional. She worked as a store clerk. She loves to laugh and gossip. I asked her about her name once, and she complained that the name [name]Lola[/name] has never been popular, even in her day. Not sure if she dislikes her name because of its uniqueness or not.
Anyhow, I would use it, but the song about the transvestite has never allowed me to think of it as a possible first name. I have thought about using [name]Tallulah[/name] nn [name]Lula[/name] or [name]Dolores[/name], or another short “L” name to honor her instead.
