Lola ✨

What do Berries think of Lola?

Is it too childish on its own or could it bring itself? Or in case for which first names could be nickname of? I don’t like Charlotte.

What is the imagery or aesthetics, or whatever inspires you, in words that comes up in your mind?
How would you describe the style of this name?

Would it pair well with Elsa, and Frida? Some of my other likes include Ines, Léonor, Margaux / Margot, Lavinia, Camélia, Juliette, Eva, Joséphine, Verbena, Magdalena “Magda”, Zahra / Zara, Alexandra, and many French and Italian names

If it helps, I live in Europe

Thank you!

I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is great :sunflower:

I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is lovely definitely strong enough to stand on her own and I would assume she’s a name in her own right rather than a nickname. I do not find [name_f]Lola[/name_f] childish but I would pair her with something stronger longer maybe [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Fabienne[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] rather than [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for example.

However I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] could work as a nickname for [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] (a name I’ve been liking a lot of recent), [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Aloisia[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Finola[/name_f], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f], [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_u]Mallory[/name_u], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] and [name_f]Viola[/name_f].

[name_f]Lola[/name_f] feels summery bright and fun. For me I picture hot days, [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] beaches, clear blue sea, brightly coloured parasols and ice cream. She has the ultimate holiday vibe. I would say she’s a fashionable European choice that fits in with the likes of [name_f]Luna[/name_f].

Looking at your other names I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] would pair well with [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Ines[/name_f] + [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

I’m not a fan but then I’m not a fan of L names in general. To my mind it’s a bit juvenile. Putting my personal taste aside, its definitely a stand alone name in its own right now, but I’ve also heard it used as a diminutive for Delores in Spain. If I met a Lola, unless they were Spanish, I’d assume it was the full name.

I do feel it’s a bit of a stylistic outlier with your other names collectively, which are beautifully romantic in an elegant and refined sense (not in a saccharine, princessy ‘Disney’ way). But I also don’t think it looks so odd that it’s unuseable with the particular options of Elsa and Frida, which together make a very Pan-European set.

To add further vibes - from Lola I get similar to poster above! Bright popsicles, bright plastic sunglasses, sunhats. In contrast to your other names which I collectively get white cotton, linen, lavender, hessian, straw hats, espadrilles, brown leather sandals, baskets, dappled sunlight through woodland, beautiful French hamlets, herb gardens, window boxes spilling with flowers, small village churches in golden stone, cobbled streets, hump bridges, rolling countryside and vineyards imagery.

I love [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and don’t find it juvenile at all. [name_f]My[/name_f] great-grandfather actually had a sister [name_f]Lola[/name_f] so I definitely can see it functioning well on adults.

I love [name_f]Lola[/name_f]! It could totally be a stand alone! For some reason pink and bubblegum come to mind when I think of [name_f]Lola[/name_f] haha. I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] requires a longer middle name though.

I tend to like 2 or more middles, so not a problem at all!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lola[/name_f] - warm, bright and charming. I’ve met numerous Lolas so it seems like a perfectly substantial full name to me.

[name_f]Lola[/name_f] gives me imagery of pink, sparkly things, clunky boots, cupcakes, sweet smiles and rollerskates.

I can see [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] and [name_f]Frida[/name_f] together, especially [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] work well for me too.

Some full names for [name_f]Lola[/name_f]:

[name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Alodia[/name_f], [name_f]Lois[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], [name_f]Delora[/name_f], [name_f]Lowenna[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], [name_f]Salome[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Lola[/name_f], both as a stand-alone (I don’t think it’s childish) and as a nickname.

I think anything that has an emphasis on a -LO sound can work for an occasional/interchangeable nickname, [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f], Dolores,…

And anything containing -Lo can work as a longer / birth certificate name while going by [name_f]Lola[/name_f] 99% of the time, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], Florence…

I think as a sister for [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] & [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is lovely; they’re all short and sweet!
With some longer names I personally would likely use [name_f]Lola[/name_f] as a nickname; e.g. if I were to use [name_f]Ofelia[/name_f], I might go with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] as a full name for a sister but call her [name_f]Lola[/name_f] from birth, just because that feels more balanced vibe-wise to me.
However, I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] pairs fantastically with many names, long or short, if they feel a bit more quirky, e.g. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & [name_u]Noa[/name_u], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & Henry,…

@heartwings I LOVE [name_f]Lola[/name_f] as a standalone name! It is so spunky and sweet! I definitely think it works on its own, it is beautiful! If you want a more formal name, I 100% agree with @tori101’s suggestions! From her list, [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] , [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] are my favorites. And I also love @Greyblue’s idea of using [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] as a formal name for [name_f]Lola[/name_f]!

I hope this helps! :butterfly::white_heart:

I think [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is lovely, and definitely works for an adult! It sounds very elegant to my ear, and conjures up lush white flowers, like gardenias.
I believe it’s traditionally a short form for [name_f]Dolores[/name_f].
(However, I’d avoid the diminutive [name_f]Lolita[/name_f], for obvious reasons!)

Thank you! I find [name_f]Dolores[/name_f] cool, but the meaning… And it sounds like similar to “pain” in my language
