To all the British nameberries how is the violence affecting the average citizen in [name]England[/name]? We are shocked to hear of such violence and mayhem.
I’m also close to [name]London[/name], and haven’t been affected at all - thank goodness. Friends who live in [name]London[/name] are saying that they haven’t really been affected, either; the violence is pretty much contained to certain really disadvantaged areas. Some shops etc. are closing earlier, but that’s pretty much it.
It’s been clear that there are problems - inner-city areas with high unemployment and issues with education - and that these have been heightened by the recession (and perhaps resentment at the Conservative government). But the sudden explosion of rioting was just such a surprise; it sounds silly, but I can’t really believe that here, in the UK, people resent the police so much - it feels like something which happens in the [France[/name]"]Parisian suburbs](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_civil_unrest_in_[name), not here.

The damage done was absolutely horrific, I hope those responsible are punished as severely as the law will allow.
Absolutely heartbreaking, I cried while watching the news.
To think people could inflict that kind of pain and damage on/to their OWN people astonishes me.
[name]Glad[/name] that its over, it was a rough week!
Although the week was worrying for us brits, I think that’s mostly due to the news reports; I think it was over-emphasised on the news a bit. Friends in [name]London[/name] and Birmingham saw some smashed shop windows, but it wasn’t a nationwide meltdown, by any means!
There were some isolated areas, but I’m sure our justice system will deal with those individuals; don’t worry, I’m sure all of us UK berries are fine!
