I’m due on Sept 9th and this is the long list of names, I’m considering for my DD. I wanted an uncommon, old fashioned name, that isn’t on the top 100. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite is [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and I settled on it briefly, before I realized it’s #70 on the top 100 list for 2013. I immediately crossed it off the list and tried to find something else, but yet I keep coming back to it. Another problem with [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is that I don’t like how it sounds with her father’s last name (it’s [name_u]Wallace[/name_u], I’m not sure if problem is the double L’s, or that both names have a hard sound together), but I love it with mine (Corradetti)… Not sure which last name will be used.
Anyway here they are in ABC order:
[name_u]Adria[/name_u]
[name_f]Adriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f]
[name_f]Angelica[/name_f]
[name_f]Audra[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Bria[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynna[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_u]Hilary[/name_u]
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorna[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Stacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
What’s your top 5, or even 10? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any suggestions?
I like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] ! I didn’t think twice about the double ll’s. It is a well blended name:) Go with what your heart loves. and don’t forget that your the one who will be calling her a hundred times a day!
[name_f]My[/name_f] top 5 would be [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and [name_f]Lila[/name_f].
What about…
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_m]Just[/name_m] some suggestions. You have a great list. I love [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f].
I honestly think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] sounds fine. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is one of my favorite names. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Marina[/name_f] would be my next choices.
[name_f]My[/name_f] top 5:
[name_f]Adriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Audra[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
It was hard to choose since I liked nearly all the names on your list! Good luck!
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_f]Millie[/name_f]) without a doubt is my number one on your list. Gorgeous! But I agree if [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is what your heart loves don’t give in to what your ‘head’ says about popularity. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is lovely go for it!
[name_f]Alexa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
Great list! If you love [name_f]Stella[/name_f], but dislike the popularity, maybe you’d consider [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]? Or [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], or [name_f]Celia[/name_f] with their similar meaning ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] = star, [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and [name_f]Celia[/name_f] = heavenly…which is so much better that [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]'s meaning…blind).
From your list, I like [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Audra[/name_f] best, but with such a lovely list of choices, you really can’t go wrong.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
I think that [name_f]Audrina[/name_f], [name_f]Brynna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] are so beautiful and classy. I love [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] because I have a little cousin with that name and she is so cute!
I feel like I made such a big deal about picking a name off the top 100, that I have to go through with it now. I threw out many names my DD’s father liked because of rank, I feel like I can’t go back, and that I’m trying to find reasons to not like [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and to choose a different name.
I like [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], but I’m hesitant on it because of Shrek. If I was putting the names in the order I liked them, [name_f]Marina[/name_f] would fall somewhere in the middle to end, but I can’t cross it off, either.
I thought about [name_f]Estella[/name_f], but I know I’d just call her [name_f]Stella[/name_f], so I figured, what’s the point when I’d be using only the nn.
I think [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] is pretty. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is my mother’s name. I thought of using [name_f]Silvana[/name_f], but my mother would rather I didn’t, because she hates her name. [name_f]Silvana[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Svetlana[/name_f] and I love that name. It means star (same as [name_f]Stella[/name_f]) but it’s Russian and we aren’t Russian… and that’s holding me back.
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] is very high on my list. [name_f]My[/name_f] DD’s dad suggested [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and that was when I thought of [name_f]Brynna[/name_f].
I’m having narrowing down the similar names: [name_f]Audrina[/name_f], [name_f]Audra[/name_f], [name_u]Adria[/name_u], [name_f]Adriana[/name_f]… and I think it would help, I like each one for different reasons.
I like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u]! I think it’s a cute name and is very wearable. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is one of those GREAT names that doesn’t sound “too” anything. It sounds cute on a chilld, pretty on a teenager and nice an adult and senior.
I think I’m trying to convince myself not to like the name, because it is on the top 100, and I made such a big deal about not using one of those names. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister doesn’t want me to use it because her son is called [name_m]Liam[/name_m] (his full name is [name_m]William[/name_m], but he’s never called that) and she thinks we’d look like we were obsessed with [name_f]Tori[/name_f] Spelling if I named her that ([name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] are two of her children’s names).
I feel like if you say [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] too fast, the L’s just take over… Idk.
There isn’t a name on my list that I like as much, though.
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - my favorite from your list, very pretty
[name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] - lovely name.
[name_f]Lorna[/name_f] - I like this. It’s interesting and different but very pretty!
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - I like it
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] - nice
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - nice
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] - what about [name_f]Starla[/name_f]? less common but not unknown. I know a woman in her 40’s named [name_f]Starla[/name_f].
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - If you want something not very common I don’t think this is a good choice
I think you should name her [name_f]Stella[/name_f] if you love it and keep coming back to it. I only know one [name_f]Stella[/name_f], personally. It’s a nice name. I don’t think it’s bad with your last name at all!
I think [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] sounds wonderful. It reminds me of [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_u]Dallas[/name_u], the classic 1937 film starring [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] Stanwyck. If you haven’t seen it, [name_f]DO[/name_f]! It has one of the best endings in the history of cinema.
And I highly doubt the average person can tell you the names of [name_f]Tori[/name_f] Spelling’s two oldest kids. (I can, but that’s just because I have a somewhat unhealthy interest in all things celeb.) Why your sister is worried about that is beyond me. Now if she had a boy named [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and you wanted [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], that I could understand, but [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]? No. And they’ll be cousins after all, not siblings. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] has a fantastic meaning, it’s easy to say and spell, it will work in many languages and best of all? You love it! So go for it.
I’ve never seen the movie or heard of the actress but I will watch it.
[name_f]My[/name_f] sister is the type to make everything about her lol. I like that [name_f]Stella[/name_f] will work with different languages and ethnicities. I’m mostly Italian and 1/10 Greek and my DD’s father is English and Scottish, I think it’s acceptable with all our nationalities.
