Hey all! Thanks for all of your replies. I have been working on my replies to you. I decided to eliminate a few names ([name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Delphine[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]June[/name], [name]Evangeline[/name], and [name]Imogene[/name]) and I am adding a few ([name]Gwendolyn[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name]).
[name]Rachel[/name]-
Thank you. When you wrote alternative names (such as [name]Clare[/name] - [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clara[/name] - yes) did you mean no to my form ([name]Clare[/name]) but yes to the others? I like your suggestion of [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]June[/name], but I worry that the two names together (either as twins or even in a sib-set of singletons) brings out the old-feeling in each name-- moreso than if one was a stand-alone.
[name]Raven[/name]-
[name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] are so pretty for twin sisters. Thanks. I am still thinking on both of those names. Sometimes they have a little too much sweetness or frillines for me.

[name]Mabel[/name] and [name]June[/name] is cute! You are so right. Similar comment to what I posted above. [name]Do[/name] the names together (as twin sisters or singleton sisters even) bring out the “old factor” too much in each name?
[name]Daisy[/name]-
Thanks! I liked how you broke out a few that were least favorites. I was second guessing a few of those.
[name]Sugar[/name]-
[name]Celine[/name] gets a big noooo? too celine dion I assume you are thinking. Why a no to [name]Estelle[/name]? Wow you love [name]Imogene[/name]? I feel like no one ever loves this name! (They all favor [name]Imogen[/name]). I am ok with [name]Tabitha[/name] being hipster. I like hipster names.
[name]Erin[/name]-
Alot of “yes” votes for [name]Delphine[/name]. I kinda threw that in at the end so I was suprised. I’ve decided to eliminate it from the longer list. Were your yes and no answers based on sib-set or your personal preferences/feelings about the names? (either is fine, I was just curious)
Emelis-
I do worry [name]Clare[/name] is too plain. [name]Glad[/name] to have reinforcement there. [name]Edith[/name] gets a yes from you too? That’s encouraging. It’s one I really like, but worry it sounds too old. Thanks for your thoughtful comments and some possible twin-set lists. [name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] does sound cute together. [name]Mabel[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] is great too.

Yes, I think [name]Vivien[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name], and [name]Scarlett[/name] could be too much. It’s not a complete dealbreaker for me though. It is interesting you brought up repeating ending sounds ( A-sound ending to be specific). It is something that I go back and forth on. I am not sure if I hate it or don’t mind it at all. I agree with you. [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], and [name]Tabitha[/name] are very much our style, but the A ending throws me off a bit. I think because these names rhyme with [name]Fiona[/name] a little too much-- more than other A endings anyway.
And yes, [name]Ido[/name] like “ine” (een) endings so much! I am with you that [name]Celine[/name], [name]Irene[/name], and [name]Helene[/name] are at the top. ([name]Jessamine[/name] we say with a mine not meen ending so she can move to another section and stay on the list). Of those 3, I really like them all. haven’t decided yet, but [name]Celine[/name] might go first because of the S-like beginning and similarities to [name]Alice[/name].
No, [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] can’t be twins! No matchy-matchy names. I think [name]Mabel[/name] might be a little less common (?) so I slightly favor that one of the two.
I was not going to put [name]Lucille[/name] and [name]Estelle[/name] together because they are a little matchy, but I didn’t even think of [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Ethel[/name]! good call.
[name]Love[/name] your two suggestions [name]Olive[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name] and [name]June[/name] and [name]Edith[/name]. They might feel a little “old” together though? Still trying to feel that out. I am struggling with too old vs too frilly in all the names on this list.
[name]Lori[/name]-
[name]Estelle[/name] and [name]Helene[/name] are two of my top picks. I’m wondering what your thoughts are there about why you’d eliminate them. Oh and [name]Lucille[/name] too. That is DH’s favorite. [name]Just[/name] trying to think if we’re overlooking something or are not looking broadly enough into our “long list”
[name]Liza[/name]-
[name]Edith[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] are cute, but I’m wondering how you feel about them together and if they bring an “old lady” vibe to the family? I feel like they seem to bring out those qualities in a name that maybe stand-alone could be young and fresh, but with 4 other sisters feels very old.
[name]Emilia[/name]-
We definitely would use a nn [name]Lucy[/name] for [name]Lucille[/name] alot of the time. I’ve been having trouble finding a match for [name]Lucille[/name], but [name]Mabel[/name] is definitely a good suggestion there.
kyemsma-
I liked the three combos you listed. They were thoughful. [name]Helene[/name] and [name]Olive[/name] is neat.
becky-
[name]Tabitha[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] is a GREAT sib or twin set. Sometimes I feel like it’s too predictible though. I am also struggling with the A endings and if I want to have another child with an A ending-- let alone two.
ottilie-
Wow you are one of the few to list [name]Vivienne[/name]. It wasn’t getting much love. I can get over the [name]Scarlett[/name]/[name]Vivien[/name] things I think. I just don’t know if [name]Vivienne[/name] is my favorite of all these names.
[name]Eleanor[/name] is a name I have loved for so long and I bring it up every time. DH is completely onboard with the name. However… I’ve now had 4 chances to use it and if I don’t use it now, I should probably leave her off any future lists huh? Something is holding me back from assigning the name to a child. Maybe it’s just meant to be one of those name loves and I will never use.

Thanks for the thoughts on which names are good candidates to eliminate. Your comments were pretty much in line with what I was thinking too. I noticed you called some out as dated, but didn’t say any were too old or fusty. That seems to be more of my hesitation right now (like an [name]Edith[/name] or [name]Hazel[/name]) than dated names. I don’t mind another color or the Gone with the Wind connection.
[name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Mirabelle[/name] is a g/g combo I have thought about for so long! [name]Love[/name] it…but the names together…they just scream FRILLY to me!
lineska-
Thanks for the thoughtful reply. It’s nice to hear specifics about why you don’t love some names as much. I definitely want names with “spunk” so is good to have perspective and reinforcement.
megan-
thanks! I think [name]Gwyneth[/name] and [name]Lucille[/name] is a cool option!
