We found out we’re having a baby boy yesterday. I was convinced we were having a girl, so it was a bit of a shock! I felt so guilty about feeling disappointed at first, but I think that might be partly because we had a name we absolutely loved for a girl - [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]. We considered using [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] for a boy but decided we want to save [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] incase we have a girl in the future.
The boys names I’m leaning towards at the moment are:
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - we were also considering this for a girl
[name_m]Truman[/name_m] ([name_u]True[/name_u]) - my other half isn’t keen on this
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] ([name_m]Raff[/name_m])
I also quite like [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] but can’t find a long version I’m keen on (perhaps Rudiger but I’m not sure). I’m looking for a name that is strong yet sensitive, and unusual but not shockingly so.
Maybe it’s worth mentioning that his surname will be Lingwood.
I like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] with [name_f]Marlo[/name_f], if you’re going to try for a little sister in the future! On the other hand, since you can’t know the gender of your next child in advance, I also like [name_m]Truman[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] as brothers. If you want some suggestions for a full name for [name_u]Rudy[/name_u], maybe [name_m]Rudyard[/name_m]? I assume [name_m]Rudolph[/name_m]/[name_m]Rudolf[/name_m] is too much. Other suggestions:
Congratulations! From your list, I quite like [name_m]Truman[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], and [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] but would hold [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for a possible daughter in the future. I think the name [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] can stand on its own and doesn’t have to be a nickname. I also like the suggestions of [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]/[name_m]Harris[/name_m] and [name_m]Ruben[/name_m] from @oiseau. Other suggestions…
Since your husband doesn’t like [name_m]Truman[/name_m], I would go with [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] or [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] on a boy. [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] is nice too, and I think it stands on its own. Seconding what others have said, I think [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], and [name_m]Foster[/name_m] meet your criteria perfectly. I’d like to suggest [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], and [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] as well.
I like both [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_m]Truman[/name_m], but I’m not a fan of [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] on a boy. I really like [name_u]Rudy[/name_u] too and think the pp suggestion of [name_m]Rudyard[/name_m] is really nice.
Thanks everyone, love your suggestions. [name_m]Rudyard[/name_m] is lovely and I also really like [name_u]Everett[/name_u], although it sounds very grown up! I’ve just had a chat with my other half and he seems to be coming round to the name [name_m]Truman[/name_m], which is exciting. [name_m]Truman[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] would be perfect as there are so many Johns in both of our families. [name_m]Truman[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is another option. Thanks for all your input so far - all further suggestions very welcome!
