We have a son named [name]Evan[/name] and are having a girl in a few months. we want a Welsh name with a “good meaning” for his baby sister. [name]Evan[/name] is the Welsh form of [name]John[/name] meaning God is gracious. please help. some of the Welsh names are a little “out there” for us but I know there is something that we can both agree on:-) thanks for any suggestions…

[name]Gwyneth[/name] - means “blessed and happy”

To go with [name]Evan[/name], I love the suggestions of [name]Manon[/name], [name]Carys[/name], [name]Gwen[/name], [name]Roisin[/name], and [name]Rhiannon[/name].
Thank you all for your many lovely suggestions! I am really loving [name]Bethan[/name] (pledged to God) right now. also love [name]Carys[/name]/[name]Cerys[/name] ([name]Love[/name]) with [name]Evan[/name]. Which sib-set looks and sounds better to you?
[name]Evan[/name] and [name]Bethan[/name]
[name]Evan[/name] and [name]Carys[/name]/[name]Cerys[/name]
thanks again!
I think [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Bethan[/name] is the best combo.
It’s a goregous welsh variation of the often smooshed [name]Beth[/name]-anne.
the meaning i feel ties in with [name]Evan[/name].
I love [name]Bethan[/name], and the nn [name]Beth[/name] is cute, but I also love [name]Carys[/name] and it seems a better fit to me with [name]Evan[/name], not least of all because they don’t have matchy endings like [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Bethan[/name]. [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Carys[/name] sounds so good to me. Definitely Welsh and classic, but also chic and modern
Either way you can’t go wrong! Good luck deciding
Actually found this thread by searching for my own name (someone a few posts up had included [name]Siobhan[/name] as a suggestion). I just wanted to throw in that [name]Siobhan[/name] is the Gaelic equivalent of [name]Joan[/name] and also means God is [name]Gracious[/name], similar to your son’s name which is a Gaelic male form of [name]John[/name].
I think [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Bethan[/name] are lovely. They both have -an endings, I like sibset with patterns like this
I’m not sure how to pronounce [name]Carys[/name], so I can’t really be any help voting on a favorite combination. Thanks for posting this thread though, it was very helpful to someone on the prowl for names!
[name]Cordelia[/name] is a beautiful Celtic/Welsh name.
I love the pp suggestion of [name]Cordelia[/name]! [name]Evan[/name] and [name]Carys[/name] would be perfect, though. I love [name]Carys[/name] and her meaning!
