[name]Hi[/name] everyone, I just joined hoping I could find the perfect boy name for my husband and I… we’re not expecting (yet!) but I figure it’s always a good idea to be prepared.
[name]Both[/name] of our favorite boy names are very popular, unfortunately; his is [name]Alexander[/name] and mine is [name]Spencer[/name]. We’re planning to use [name]Alexander[/name] or another of our favorite popular names as a middle name if possible. I’m very adamant about following a 1-3-2 or 3-1-2 syllable progression (our last name is [name]Maxwell[/name]).
Here’s a list of names we really like, but are just too popular to use:
[name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Shawn[/name]/[name]Shaun[/name]/[name]Sean[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]James[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Gage[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name] (prn. Ex-Ay-Vyer – NOT Ha-Vee-[name]Air[/name])
[name]Jeremiah[/name]
[name]Damian[/name]/[name]Damion[/name]/[name]Damien[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
Basically anything in the top 500 popular names or anything in the top 1,000 that seems to be rising fast is out of the question. We really want to avoid the [name]Jacob[/name]/[name]Isabella[/name] craze! Thank you!
One syllable names (that could go with [name]Alexander[/name]):
[name]Rafe[/name]
[name]Dax[/name]
[name]Van[/name]
[name]Shea[/name]
[name]Blaise[/name]
[name]Gray[/name]/[name]Grey[/name]
Three syllable names
[name]Cassius[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]
[name]Simeon[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]
No offense, but I think ruling out 500 perfectly good names is a bit ridiculous. [name]Just[/name] look at the names that made the top 500- when’s the last time you met a baby boy named [name]Terry[/name] (495), [name]Jamarion[/name] (475), [name]Ernesto[/name] (486), or [name]Jerry[/name] (386)? You really like these names- don’t knock them because other people like them too! You may never run into a little [name]Xavier[/name] or [name]Jeremiah[/name] or [name]Damian[/name] or [name]Gage[/name] or [name]Jude[/name] (I haven’t met kids with any of those names) and then regret going with a name you liked less. Or you may pick [name]Tobias[/name], only to discover that there’s two other Tobiases living down the street. You really never know. But if you’re absolutely set, here are some recognizable non-top 500 names:
[name]Raphael[/name]
[name]Nico[/name]
[name]Mathias[/name]
[name]Ray[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Kieran[/name]
[name]Tynan[/name]
[name]Tiernan[/name]
[name]Mack[/name]
[name]Bodhi[/name]
I have no idea how popular these are and there may be some repeats…
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Rufus[/name]
[name]Sidney[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name]/[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]David[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Ernest[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name]
[name]Phillip[/name]
[name]Peter[/name]
[name]Just[/name] out of interest, why do you want to pronounce [name]Xavier[/name] as ex-ay-vyer?
agree about the top 500–if you look at the numbers, the percentages are really small. Swistle has a lot on that. But anyway, here’s a few rarer suggestions-dont have time to look them all up but off the top of my head–
I personally [name]ADORE[/name] the name [name]Martin[/name]. I probably won’t use it because I’m set on using a family name, but I think it’s stately and classic. Good luck!
