Although we are still TTC I am very keen to start getting a few boys and girls names together and would love some advice and feedback!
We like the name [name]Violet[/name] but I can’t find a middle name that suits. The best we have come up with is [name]Violet[/name] [name]May[/name] but I’m not sure I love it.
The first boys name is easy, [name]Henry[/name] [name]Paul[/name]. My husbands father and grandfather were both [name]Henry[/name] and hubbys name is [name]Pauliasi[/name] which is Fijian for [name]Paul[/name]! I’d like to have a second boys name as a back up too but hubby is being fussy and says he wants a ‘strong’ name?
The other girls name I am set on is [name]Lara[/name] [name]Jayne[/name], although we have the Fijian alternative of [name]Lani[/name] (Lah-nee) [name]Jayne[/name] as well. It is family tradition for the first born girl to have the middle name [name]Jayne[/name], in remembrance of my Aunty who passed away when she was just four months old.
Any help or advice you have on any of these would be greatly appreciated!
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Paul[/name] and [name]Lara[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] are both very nice! [name]Lani[/name] is also very pretty but I think [name]Lara[/name] will age a bit better and fit in better with [name]HEnry[/name] and possibly [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Lara[/name] nn [name]Lani[/name] seems plausible enough to me though!
You seem to like one syllable middle names - I am wondering if your last name is quite long? If it’s not, you could open up the options by considering more different kinds of middles for [name]Violet[/name]. I also think [name]Violet[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] is quite nice FWIW. [name]Violet[/name] [name]May[/name] is perfectly pretty, too. Some one syllable options might include [name]Violet[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (a little wordy but not as bad as some of the other virtue names? In general, a lot of girls’ one syllable names are words, which might be part of why you’re having a hard time with [name]Violet[/name]), [name]Violet[/name] [name]Faye[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Joan[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Jeanne[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Anne[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Elle[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Emme[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Lee[/name]/[name]Leigh[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Lynne[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Reese[/name], and [name]Violet[/name] [name]Quinn[/name]. There must be more I’m not thinking of. You might also look at two syllable but simple names, kind of like [name]Lara[/name], for more options. [name]Violet[/name] [name]Nina[/name] comes to mind as a nice one. [name]Violet[/name] [name]Anna[/name].
With [name]Henry[/name], I wonder if you’d do well to stick to other classic boys’ names that also have a ‘kingly’ feel, like [name]David[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]James[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Charles[/name], [name]Richard[/name], and [name]Robert[/name]. Also Biblical but English-enough options (like [name]Paul[/name]) including some of the previous ones and also [name]Andrew[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Mark[/name], [name]Luke[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Joseph[/name]. All of these names are strong and pair well with [name]Henry[/name]. Which is not to say you couldn’t go further afield with something a little modern and more bold - far from it - but if you like some of these it seems like it’s the most likely to make your husband happy from jump!
I really like [name]Henry[/name] [name]Paul[/name] and [name]Lara[/name] or [name]Lani[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]! I think that [name]Violet[/name] [name]May[/name] is very pretty.
Other possible middle names for [name]Violet[/name] could be [name]Violet[/name] [name]Eve[/name] (as mentioned above and I think is really beautiful) or [name]Violet[/name] [name]Belle[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Marie[/name], or [name]Violet[/name] [name]Nichelle[/name]/[name]Michelle[/name].
I agree that [name]Lara[/name] will age well and fits with [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] a bit better than [name]Lani[/name] does. I am not particularly set on one syllable middle names as our surname is only two syllables starting with B. I also considered [name]Violet[/name] [name]Louise[/name] as [name]Louise[/name] is also my sisters middle name. I love [name]Violet[/name] [name]Grace[/name] too as [name]Grace[/name] is one of my closest friends name!
I do like a lot of the boys names you suggested, [name]Joseph[/name], [name]James[/name] and [name]William[/name] in particular. Hubby’s grandfather was Viliame which is Fijian for [name]William[/name]. I just worry that these names are very common and wouldn’t like for my children to have to use the first letter of our surname to be recognised at school.
I don’t know if the names I like fall under a particular category. I like names that will not always have to be spelt out (my name being spelt with ‘ie’ instead of ‘y’ has proved to be an ongoing hassle for me over the years). I don’t want a really common name either. We like strong names for boys and pretty, girly names for girls.
Any further suggestions you have would be much appreciated!
