I get a very Welsh/Celtic/Arthurian vibe from the name…a woman w/long straight dark hair, very intelligent. It matches the other names in your signature very well [name_f]IMO[/name_f]…
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] is lovely -it matches your sig. well -it has a magical feel and gives me imagery of the depths of the sea
I think it is a stunning combo that complements your style perfectly! I did not have to refer to the pronunciation guide to get it right on the first try either, so that is a good sign.
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] feels a little bit like a fresher, more fun [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] to me.
I have always liked [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] on paper, but no pronunciation ever feels natural. [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] is very Arthurian as someone else mentioned, which is nice. It’s a perfectly reasonable and pretty. I can’t imagine meeting someone with the name in person, and it feels weird on a child, but it looks very pretty and sounds like a novel heroine. I think it would be a really unique, interesting, and refreshing choice. I think it would age well, and sound better the older she got. After all, we’re only children for a minor (lol) part of our lives. It’s grown on me as I’ve typed this. Yeah. I like it.
Thank you all so much for sharing your impressions!
@bobcat108 - I love the feeling and imagery that came up for you! I like the Welsh/Arthurian description, because [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] feels to me like [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]'s sleeker, oceanic cousin.
@greblue - Thank you! I get strong mermaid vibes from both these names, and I’m glad to hear they go well together!
@acoker95 - I’m so glad to hear that about the pronunciation! I didn’t know how [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] was pronounced until recently, and that was the tipping point where I started to fall in love with the name. I’m glad it’s intuitive for some, at least! I have the same feelings about [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] and [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]. [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] feels deeper and fresher and sleeker to me without the heavy G of [name_f]Morgana[/name_f].
@bassilly - I’m glad you came around to it in the end, haha! We would probably call her Wennie / [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] depending on whether she struggles to pronounce it when she’s small. My own name (sounds a lot like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]) is very hard for little ones to pronounce, so I end up acquiring some pretty hilarious nicknames. Thanks for your feedback!
[name_f]Morwenna[/name_f] is Cornish and can be shortened to Wenna. It is lovely.
[name_f]Oceane[/name_f] as others have said is a little hard for me to know how to pronounce, but it is in the middle name spot (even if were in the first name spot, people would eventually learn how to pronounce it). Other than that I think its great. I love [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f].
