We are expecting twins in [name_f]April[/name_f] (two girls). We have the two middle names picked out (both family names) but are having trouble finding first names to go with them. I am looking for suggestions to go with the following:
[name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] (husbands great grandmothers name)
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] (my mothers maiden name)
I am open to using either of these as a first name as well, but sort of felt like new babies needed new names as their primary, leaving the middle names as the family names.
So far names we’ve been liking have been: [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Brenna[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] & [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] is lovely. Unfortunately, I don’t think the other -a names go well together (and I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] myself).
I think it will be hard to find names that go well with [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f], as it is a fairly ‘heavy’ name. Have you considered alternatives like the french [name_f]Appoline[/name_f]? There’s also [name_f]Pola[/name_f], which means ‘poppy’ but was used as a nickname for [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Appoline[/name_f] is really just adorable.
I also think [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] sounds like more of a first name than a middle name, but there are other ways to honor that name without using it specifically: there’s the french [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], for one. Since it means “from the forest,” I think you could use that meaning as well. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is pretty cute!
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Appoline[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
But if you want to keep the honor names in tact:
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] (okay, I love this combo!)
@lily422 [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] is actually Lithuanian, although, [name_m]Ive[/name_m] seen it listed as having different origins. [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is Italian, but again, could really be from anywhere.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is cute, I haven’t thought of that one yet.
[name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] is absolutely stunning. I definitely second [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], but I can try to come up with a few others for you!
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] (one of my original characters is Greek and Italian; her name is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabetta[/name_f])
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]
