[name]Hi[/name] everyone! First time poster here.
Its Boxing day here in [name]New[/name] Zealand (the 26th) and my 4 wee babies and 1 big baby (husband) are all having afternoon naps after a hectic but joyous few days. [name]Ive[/name] heard about nameberry a couple of times but finally decided to join.
We are a family of 6, our family was complete, but then i fell pregnant, even though i had an IUD in place. I chose to have it removed once i found out, though this is really risky the little one came through unscathed.
It seems as though this little one is determined and destined to be apart of our family because its defying all the odds. Conceiving with contraception and despite the risky procedure of having IUD removed i was lucky to not miscarry.
So because of all this i am interested to find some middle names that could mean, miracle/surprise/determined/destined. Anything along those sorts of lines.
With our 4 children we found out the gender’s but because this pregnancy is unique in many ways we have decided to do it differently this time and we will be getting another surprise on delivery day.
I was compiling a list of names and then it occurred to me that a direct translation of some of these words in other languages sound beautiful. (Many are google translations so if I got one wrong someone should probably point that out).
[name]Miracle[/name]: [name]Milagro[/name] (Spanish), Milagre (Portugese), Himala (Filipino), [name]Nessa[/name]/[name]Nesiah[/name] (Hebrew), Alanze (Basque), Surprise: Sorpresa (Spanish/Italian), Iontas (Irish), Mirum (Latin), Nenad nn Neno (Croatian) Destined: Nakataan (Filipino), Vist (Icelandic), Datus (Latin), Determined: Hatim (Arabic)
Names with similar meanings: [name]Pepin[/name]/Pipin (French/Ancient Germanic - possibly means awe inspiring), Erimentha (Greek - determined protector), Qismat (Arabic - [name]Fate[/name]), [name]Dalia[/name] (Lithuanian/Baltic Mythology - [name]Fate[/name]).
The first name that came to mind is [name]Selah[/name], which means rock. It’s not exactly the criteria you asked for, but to me it invokes a strong, rooted image. Also, [name]Matteo[/name]/[name]Mattea[/name] mean gift of God.
[name]Farrell[/name]- courageous/ hero
[name]Korbin[/name]- ‘steep hill’ -so as if he fought hard to be here
[name]Leo[/name]- lion- like the strength of a lion
[name]Lorcan[/name]- little fierce one- this name shows the strength to survive
Nenad means not hoped. Ne-nada -> Nenad. I heard that one Nenad get his name because his mother didn’t know she would have twins (he was born during the war).
Thanks to all for the many ideas. What a great website this is.
Some of the names are a bit beyond our taste but liking:
[name]Dalia[/name], [name]Malin[/name], [name]Kyra[/name]
[name]Liam[/name], [name]Farrell[/name], [name]Leo[/name].
The name’s dont have to be of the options i mentioned, but am interested in a name that has a meaning similar to our unique journey.
