We plan on naming our new son [name]Noah[/name] [name]Avery[/name], but I HATE that we have no back-up names picked out! I refuse to name my children definitively before seeing them, so even though I’m almost certain we’ll use this name, I just can’t be sure and I don’t know what we’ll do if the name doesn’t seem right when he’s born. Plus, although I love [name]Noah[/name], it is a little more common than I consider ideal.
[name]Both[/name] [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Avery[/name] make me think of a little boy who tends to be strong in his convictions and a bit serious and introspective. (I know they may not convey this to others - that’s just what I get from them.) What other names make you picture these traits? Names that go well with [name]Avery[/name] would be a bonus, as we’re pretty set on that as a middle name.
Thank you for any suggestions! Naming a boy is hard.
I absolutely love [name]Noah[/name] [name]Avery[/name]! [name]Both[/name] names have been on my list in the past, and I nearly went with [name]Avery[/name] [name]Noah[/name] [name]George[/name] for my short list instead of [name]Avery[/name] [name]Ian[/name] [name]George[/name].
Hmm, [name]Jonah[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] were two of my first thoughts, but I think something like [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Patrick[/name] (maybe nn [name]Pax[/name]? It gives it a bit of spunk), [name]Declan[/name], [name]Theodore[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Micah[/name], [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Asher[/name], etc., have the same feeling. I think [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Everett[/name] or [name]Jack[/name] [name]Asher[/name] would be adorable as a brother to [name]Noah[/name] [name]Avery[/name]!
I know what you mean! [name]Even[/name] though I was almost, completely, absolutely positive I had settled on my son’s name months before he was born, I still took a back-up name to the hospital. I was terrified I would take one look at him and think the name I had picked out didn’t suit him. Happily, that didn’t happen at all, but I think having that back-up name gave me some peace of mind.
Since my son is a [name]Noah[/name] [name]Harrison[/name] , maybe some of the other names I considered will appeal to you.
[name]Benjamin[/name] - my “hospital back-up name.” I probably would have used [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Jonah[/name].
[name]Jonah[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Colin[/name]
[name]Brennan[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Ezra[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
Another vote for [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Avery[/name] as a backup. I love the combination of [name]Noah[/name] [name]Avery[/name] though! And I completely agree with you that naming boys is very hard. Good luck!
Thanks, everyone! I like almost all of the suggestions and appreciate the help. My favorites:
[name]Jonah[/name] - always a favorite of mine, but apparently DH can’t help but think of [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Hill[/name] when he hears it. I think I’ll still keep it on my backup list though, just in case.
[name]Caleb[/name] - definitely a contender…DH really likes [name]Everett[/name] but I’m not sold on it, but I do actually like [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Everett[/name]
[name]Gabriel[/name] - really like it…not sure if I love nn [name]Gabe[/name], though
[name]Elijah[/name] - I like it but (and I know this is absurd given the other names I like) it feels too biblical to me. I really do know that’s ridiculous.
[name]Micah[/name] - love the name, but for whatever reason have only know girls with it so it just doesn’t feel right to me (even though I know it’s primarily a boys name)
[name]Asher[/name] - love it but doesn’t work with our last name
[name]Benjamin[/name] - another one I like, but doesn’t seem right with our last name
[name]Nathaniel[/name] - like it but not crazy about nn [name]Nate[/name]
[name]Jack[/name] - I really like [name]Jack[/name], but think I need a longer name and [name]Jackson[/name] (which I really like) has sadly become way too trendy
Hmm…thanks for helping me think this through a bit! I think I have some ideas now (but more suggestions are still welcome).
Hmmm…this is a totally different direction than the other suggestions, but I feel they have similar attitude as [name]Noah[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Grayson[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Liam[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Silas[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Miles[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Anton[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name] [name]Avery[/name]
