[name_m]Hi[/name_m]. I have been searching for new baby names I like, since I have had the same on from two years ago when I was fifteen. I love collecting baby names for the future.
Here is a list I compiled of some pretty interesting new GIRL names I’ve heard… I am not attached to any of them so be honest, but kind.
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]
Wrensley/Rensley
[name_f]Capri[/name_f]
[name_u]Hartley[/name_u]
[name_u]Tally[/name_u]
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_u]Prairie[/name_u]
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]
Noley
[name_u]Story[/name_u]
[name_u]Landry[/name_u]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
Arlowe
I have the same post on the boys forum.
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]- I actually considered [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] as a middle name for awhile because it would be an honor name for me, so I really like it as a girl’s name! It’s like [name_u]Harper[/name_u] but spunkier
Wrensley/Rensley- I don’t dislike it as much as I thought I would… I normally don’t like [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u]/[name_f]Kinsley[/name_f]/[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] and the lot but I think this sounds more like a surname and less like a cutesy made-up name, if that makes sense. I much prefer the Rensley spelling since Wrensley takes it into slightly-confusing made-up name territory
[name_f]Capri[/name_f]- makes me think of capris or [name_f]Capri[/name_f]-[name_f]Sun[/name_f] so I really don’t like it
[name_u]Hartley[/name_u]- this name sounds like a harsher, meaner form of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] or [name_u]Harley[/name_u], and I would prefer both of those
[name_u]Tally[/name_u]- makes me think of tally marks. I think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is cuter!
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]- I love how sweet and almost sing-songy this name is! It has a very unique sound, and might be mistaken for ukulele though so be warned.
[name_u]Prairie[/name_u]- I live in Kansas. I see no appeal for prairie as a name. The prairie is boring and endless, not whimsical and fun
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]- I really like [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] and [name_u]Ripley[/name_u] as girl names! I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] helps give it a solidly feminine feel, and it would stand out among the other -lee names at school!
Noley- I love [name_f]Nolia[/name_f] and [name_f]Nola[/name_f], so I think Noley is cute too. I prefer it spelled [name_f]Nolie[/name_f] though cause I think it looks sweeter
[name_u]Story[/name_u]- super sweet name. Not sure how useable it is as a first but I love it as a middle
[name_u]Landry[/name_u]- reminds me too much of the word laundry for me to use it personally, but I don’t dislike it
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]- I have negative associations with a person named [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] so I can’t like it because of that but I do think it’s a way more interesting way to get to [name_f]Libby[/name_f] than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
Arlowe- I love [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] for a girl!
I love: [name_u]Harbor[/name_u], [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f], [name_u]Ridley[/name_u], Noley, [name_u]Story[/name_u], and Arlowe
I like: Rensley and [name_u]Landry[/name_u]
I dislike: Wrensley, [name_f]Capri[/name_f], [name_u]Hartley[/name_u], [name_u]Tally[/name_u], [name_u]Prairie[/name_u], and [name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u] - I really like [name_u]Harbor[/name_u], it has nice imagery
Wrensley/Rensley - I admit I’m not a fan. It sounds lightly awkward, sorry
[name_f]Capri[/name_f] - I do and don’t like it. On one hand, it reminds me of Carpi-suns, on the other, I like the short, sparky sound it has. Maybe [name_f]Kami[/name_f] as an alternative?
[name_u]Hartley[/name_u] - I quite like it
[name_u]Tally[/name_u] - I really like [name_u]Tally[/name_u]. It’s sweet
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] - love the flow of this
[name_u]Prairie[/name_u] - I like the sounds, but I think this is one I’d keep as a middle
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]- I don’t mind it. It’s a little harsh for my tastes, but it isn’t bad
Noley - it feels/looks a little awkward to me, sorry, but pp’s suggestion of the [name_f]Nolie[/name_f] spelling makes it more appealing. I think I’d prefer it as a nn for [name_f]Nola[/name_f] or [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], but it could grow on me
[name_u]Story[/name_u] - I like [name_u]Story[/name_u], it’s sweet
[name_u]Landry[/name_u] - I do like [name_u]Landry[/name_u]. I like it best as a nn for [name_f]Leandra[/name_f] but it’s nice on its own too
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] - I really like [name_f]Liberty[/name_f], it has a nice meaning and sound
Arlowe - I’d prefer the [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] spelling
Same as the PP, lol. Except for [name_u]Hartley[/name_u], [name_u]Tally[/name_u] and [name_u]Landry[/name_u], I dislike them.
Your style is bold, image-intense, and beautiful. Here are my top three:
-
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]: This is a beautiful, serene, evocative, and unusual choice. I would love to know someone with this name.
-
[name_u]Prairie[/name_u]: Another gorgeous name with images aplenty. I personally think there’s something just wonderful about being named [name_u]Prairie[/name_u]- where there’s very little but quiet, free space- in this bustling, clamorous age.
-
[name_u]Story[/name_u]: A bold choice with lots of substance and gravity. I love this name.
Other names:
Rensley/Wrensley: I like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on its own, but I think the “-sley” is a bit dated and overused. I also am not a huge fan of the flow of the first syllable with the second; I don’t particularly love the sound.
[name_f]Capri[/name_f]: I have found that this name has grown on me, although the [name_f]Capri[/name_f]-[name_f]Sun[/name_f] reference is a bit of a turn-off. I think it is sweet and lovely, but not as substantial as some of your other favorites.
[name_u]Hartley[/name_u]: Not my favorite in terms of flow, but this name makes me think of a tough, strong woman.
[name_u]Tally[/name_u]: I am not personally a huge fan of this name. It’s a little too nickname-esque for my taste, and I much prefer [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]: [name_m]Sing[/name_m]-song and melodic, but as a massive nerd I always associate it with what was probably [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_m]Allan[/name_m] [name_u]Poe[/name_u]'s worst poem, as it is the title.
[name_u]Ridley[/name_u]/Noley/[name_u]Landry[/name_u]: None of these names are particularly my cup of tea. They have some strong sounds, but I’m not a huge fan of the flow in any of them, and I don’t like the “Rid” sound in [name_u]Ridley[/name_u] or the “-dry” in [name_u]Landry[/name_u]. Plus, they sound more like nicknames/surnames than first names to my ear.
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]: I have a negative personal association with this name (one of the “mean girls” in grade school was rather ironically named this), but with that aside, this is a fantastic, unique virtue name.
Arlowe: I didn’t like this the first time I saw it, but it’s really grown on me! I think having it start with the “A” as opposed to the typical spelling with an “Ha” lends it refinement and mystique, and I really like how the sounds work together to create both strength and sweetness.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped! And I’m glad to see someone who also joined this site at fifteen, as I just did. (I’ve felt a little weird about it, to be honest!)
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] is sweet, though I would not use it.
The others are boring, silly or look made-up (as in trying too hard to be unique.)
