Looking for short Latin-based names

Hello!

I am currently about 33 weeks pregnant and my husband and I decided not to find out the sex of the baby so we’re working on two short lists of possible names. We’re pretty happy with our female name list but we’re finding it harder to find and agree on male names.

My very specific criteria: the name should be short, one or two syllables; the name should be based in Latin or possibly English; the name should be recognizable, easy to spell, but not overused or very common; the name cannot end with an ‘s’ or ‘x’.

We both love the sound and meaning of [name_m]Leo[/name_m] but balk at the popularity. Our current short list for male names includes [name_m]Leon[/name_m] and [name_m]Victor[/name_m], which we both like but neither of us really love.

I feel like I’ve looked at thousands of names and none feel perfectly right!
